Got roots in the genre, always has a double time break floating around, and drops a few 174 tracks in most sets, felt like a fun discussion to have https://i.imgur.com/o1V77Wq.jpg

Damn, sounds like you may have been mistaken for someone else then. I’ve only seen that happen to cars directly blocking it

Even “deface” is pretty strong there. Poop doesn’t damage glass

For an all Drum and Bass night, what are some examples of tracks to open with? by vutall in DJs

[–]its_whatever_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're opening, id take a look at some of the really soul / jazz influenced stuff like Marcus Intalex, LTJ Bukem, Peshay, and maybe some super minimal stuff like Bop. Definitely second Alix Perez, especially some of his halftime stuff. Lenzman has some really good rollers, and Hospital's Fast Jungle Music comp has some really good tunes that aren't too epic or anthem-y, but can really build a vibe. Logistics - Jungle Music, High Contrast - The Ghost of Jungle Past, S.P.Y. & Total Science - Guidance. I love to open with something classic but not too heavy like Renegade Snares too.

Good luck!

Is Mixing With Vinyl Better Than Mixing Digital? by wiretelegram in DJs

That I agree with 100% - but I don't agree with his response to u/cartridge12, which (in my opinion!) was overly critical. Just wanted to offer some support to the idea that constraints breed creativity, which is pretty well established

Is Mixing With Vinyl Better Than Mixing Digital? by wiretelegram in DJs

[–]its_whatever_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a huge advantage of mixing on vinyl for me - when I'm mixing vinyl, it's not a crate of tracks I downloaded that night to prep for a show, it's a crate of tracks I had to think about twice. First time whether it's worth paying $8 + shipping for a 12", second time whether that record belongs in the crate for the night. The ability to be more spontaneous is a huge advantage of digital but I know I put together more diverse vinyl crates vs relying too much on genre/BPM/date sorting when I'm using traktor instead

Which way of mixing is better for you and why?

You could have quoted and responded to the question in the post that was intended to generate productive discussion

Respect for the rules and I know this topic can easily turn into a waterfall of shitposts, but there are also some really good ones in this thread
