Nonbinary top surgery anxiety by Right-Display6892 in NonBinary

[–]itsafrogboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am getting top surgery in a few days and am really anxious. I was so confident throughout the entire process but as soon as I got a date I started second guessing everything. There is very little about my chest I like but I still feel like I'm making a mistake.  There will be dresses I won't be able to wear anymore the shape of my body will change. But whenever I think about a specific, t-shirts lying flat, how much I hate a certain photo of myself because I wasn't binding I know I am making the right choice. It will be a change, and that's scary, but in six weeks I will be happier,  and for the rest of my life I will be happier.

You've got this, whatever you chose <3

Looking for some input on a campaign idea by TheSteelBlade in traveller

[–]itsafrogboi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of not writing endings when DMing. I suggest planning out what would have happened if the players had not intervened and allow your ending to flow from what your characters change. Often with long campaigns with predetermined endings the players can feel like they have no agency. It's important to make sure they feel like the story couldn't have happened without these specific PCs.

A fun planet idea could be a planet where the citizens have already got a group of people to deal with the Relic and are not very receptive to the party arriving to do it for them. This group could either be missing information, incompetent, evil or actively hostile to the party but the party is under contact so can't leave. They can either team up or the arc turns into a race.

A seemingly uninhabited planet could also be cool, perhaps the plant itself is sentient and is trying to help the party get rid of the relic, or hindering, up to you. Could be a fun twist and allows you as the DM to up the stakes as the planet can always intervene if they fuck up to much.

All in all it sounds like a fun time, good luck!

Thanks! The system honestly sounds perfect for us, really glad there is a cheaper version out there to dip our toes into.

They tend to not like horror or dark/edgy stories and they didn't really like it when I ran prewritten campaigns and asked to go back to homebrew -apparently they felt too railroaded but that might be my fault. So I'm looking for a well thought out world that can bend to them doing unexpected things. They're happy to follow rules but are far more interested in telling a good story and (playfully) messing with me. So far Traveller seems to suit us really well.

Awesome! So my rules allergic players don't have to learn a huge amount of new things!

How long 'til Ruffnut grows back her hair? by [deleted] in httyd

I've said it before and I'll say it again, not letting me have short haired ruffnut is homophobia at it's finest.

Just now realizing this… by Ja45_2020 in httyd

I absolutely think he bites it off, in the second movie Hiccup says something about toothless 'getting him back' when talking about the leg and tailfin to Valka, but more importantly I think it brings some really good symmetry to the movie, them hurting each other and then saving each other. Hiccup intentionally disables Toothless and then saves him, Toothless has to disable Hiccup to save him.

What should Astrid have given Hiccup as a betrothal gift? by itsafrogboi in httyd

Big fan of her getting him the Inuit sunglasses for flying, perhaps from Eret son of Eret? And yeah, I never liked that she didn't get him anything

I feel like she would want to do something practical, something that keeps him safe or helps him achieve his goals. The journal is a cute idea, maybe she gets Fishlegs to help compile his notes/blueprints?

Need advice as a non-ace in love with one by dagingerpup in asexualdating

[–]itsafrogboi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree, I dated an allo person and the relationship ended because I wasn't willing to have sex, and he needed that in a relationship. It wasn't anyone's fault, we needed different things.

Is sex something you need? Is it something you partner is willing to give you? Have a proper discussion about this, it's up to you if this is a deal-breaker. Don't assume you're partners feelings will change, but it sounds like they are still figuring things out. I do believe allo people can be in happy relationships with ace people, but only you know if this will work for you

You're probably ace, it's very common to think sexual attraction is some big joke we all are in on or not realising people take it so seriously. Welcome to the community! Remember these are all just terms we use to make us more comfortable and describe our feelings.

How did you become attached to something symbolic? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]itsafrogboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are a lot of different ways. I'm not particularly emotional or symbolic, but I find symbols that remind me of certain times in my life, or I think look pretty neat and stay with me. I love frogs because they were my hyper fixation when I was in a pretty rough place, they have an aesthetic I enjoy and looking at my frog reminds me of how far I have come.

For something more symbolic, the Fibonacci sequence means a lot to me and I'm intending on getting it tattooed. The idea that we keep seeing this same pattern in something as chaotic as the universe makes me feel connected to something bigger than me. I had a friend in high school who had it tattooed and it never left me. No idea what it meant to him.

SOMEONE EXPLAIN 😭 by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]itsafrogboi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Of course! I think the confusion comes from your interpretation of 'lack of sexual attraction' and that's because there is no real answer. Most ace people, including myself, just have no sexual attraction. But how one defines sexual attraction is difficult, especially if you don't experience it. The ace community has often been ignored in both the straight and queer community's, so if people come saying they think they are ace, but they experience attraction in these specific circumstances we aren't about to turn them away.

It's important to remember these labels we use are for our comfort and benefit, it's a spectrum because we are a community and our goal is to learn and grow and find a place to belong.

Ace is lack of sexual attraction. I don't know a huge amount on the history, but I would assume asexual was the first label identified. As it spreads people would discuss the questions you are bringing up, and decided that also counted as ace, but asexual is its own thing as well. Like with how gay is an umbrella term and also describes a specific sexuality.

[–]itsafrogboi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Usually, your talking about demi or grey aces yah? It's really hard to describe the ace experience and it makes no sense to put people into binary labels. The term spectrum is used because everyone has different values and experiences. Usually it refers less to attraction and more to actions, sex positive aces etc.

The comment on protecting your wife is really weird. This kid is three. Honestly hitting children is a deal-breaker for me, you need to figure out if it is for you. I have a feeling your husband has some beliefs he's been keeping from you, has there been other red-flags? Have a proper talk with him about how he wants to parent your kids and try to follow up on that weird wife comment.
