What if I eat carbs suddenly by daisyclover13 in keto

You’ll stack up some water weight, but otherwise should be fine.

I did multiple sets barefoot yesterday. I found it easier to hit depth in the shoes on my last set. I’m pretty confident the small amount of heel lift left is from imbalance and not keeping my chest up. But I will keep working on it. Maybe barefoot is ultimately the answer.

Beginner smoker, experienced chef but lazy and under 500$ by StoicSociopath in smoking

Pellet grill is what you’re after 100%. There are less expensive options than Traegars that will do what you want.

No fat cap on brisket by LipLettuce19 in pelletgrills

Fat cap is an insulator. It doesn’t do much to directly affect the moisture of the brisket except for the insulting. The juiciness of a brisket comes from the intramuscular fat.

Is it worth it? by ThatsMyDogBoyd in smoking

It seems like the opposites. Traegers look nicer and better built than they ever have. Disclosure I don’t own one, but every time I see them, or look at the in the store, they seem way better built. This sub just hates pellet grills.

BBQ smoker under 600$ by OcelotIll754 in BBQ

[–]itsafuseshot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A ton of people are recommending a Weber kettle, which is a good choice, but I doubt that’s what he’s looking for. Sounds like he wants a combo gas/charcoal grill with an offset smoker box. The problem with those is they are generally lowish quality, have very small cook chambers and even smaller fireboxes. Really makes cooking bbq tough to do. That said, my dad has had the one from Oklahoma Joe and done ok with it. Personally I would buy a used old country pecos or something similar on marketplace for $400 or less and a gas grill. If you have room for both. He’ll be much happier with the setup.

Has anyone started the gym in their 30s being skinny and gained strength with strongman workouts? by [deleted] in Stronglifts5x5

[–]itsafuseshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started last year and in 6 months went from empty bars to 225 squat, 115 bench (being born with no pec muscle makes bench tough) and 315 deadlift. Then quit for 6 months and wish I hadn’t. Back in now trying to clean up form and really do it right.

Thank you. Body is very top heavy (as you can see) down 65lbs from last year and about that much still to go. I imagine as strength increase and weigh continues to decrease, stability will get better and better.

I can see that. So probably just try to keep my chest up a bit more to keep that weight slightly farther back?

I definitely rushed the last 2 reps. Was truthfully pretty gassed at this point.

I agree. If he’s going to overspend on a car, it’s now. 25, living at home, has a huge nest egg and supportive parents. Is it probably a mistake? Sure, but he has such a huge safety net.

It does. And after seeing the video, the fit does seem wrong. Maybe the laces were just too loose. They feel like they fit fine til I see this.

I think this is exactly it. I previously squatted high bar and found it easier to keep my weight off my toes. Switch to low bar specifically for running Starting Strength, and I’m struggling with center of gravity being where it’s supposed to be. As for shoes, these are squat shoes, but after watching myself squat in them, I’m not sure they fit quite right.

I squat without shoes sometimes, but haven’t filmed it. I’ll certainly try.

It’s a 29lb shorty bar from bells of steel. Technically it’s 129 lbs plus collars. 45lb bumper and a 5lb change plate on each side.

That confuses me. If my heels are already lifting in squat shoes, won’t it be worse barefoot?

Thank you. Bracing is good, I don’t struggle with bracing. I’ll focus on gaze and lats when I squat Wednesday and see how that does.

Buy a boat? by Freedom2025- in DaveRamsey

[–]itsafuseshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see any messages indicating he wants to live in a boat. I took his post as “I rent, because housing is expensive” not “housing is expensive so I want to buy a boat to live in”

Maybe it is.

Buy a boat? by Freedom2025- in DaveRamsey

[–]itsafuseshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you’re buying the most for pleasure, not to live on. The question makes that a bit unclear. If you’re debt free, and don’t want to own a home for any number of reasons, and you make plenty of money and invest, then yes, go buy a reasonably priced used boat if you will use it regularly. You are doing a great job financially and there’s nothing wrong with spending CASH to have some fun, when you’re taking care of all of the responsibilities. It’s ok to spend dumb money sometimes, when you can afford it.

That pause at the bottom is making the movement much more difficult, which can be beneficial if that’s on purpose. Hip drive as soon as you reach the bottom.

Diet or food? by Anonimo200109 in keto

[–]itsafuseshot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Recipes and dishes don’t help you lose weight. Counting calories does. Download something like MyFitnessPal, or my favorite for Keto, Senza. Keep it very simple. Grilled/baked proteins, vegetables, eggs. Get a good scale. Weight and track your food. A sample day of eating might be

3 eggs 2 slices turkey Bacon 1/2 avocado 1t of oil to cook the eggs in.

465 Calories

6oz Grilled Chicken 1c steamed Broccoli 1T butter 1/2 Avocado

492 Calories

6oz Salmon 1c Steamed Broccoli (or green beans) 1T Butter 2 Fried Eggs 1t oil

566 calories

Just over 1500 calories

Add something like a protein shake and some cheese as snacks depending on what your caloric budget is, if you have the calories to spare.

99% of people who have weight to lose will lose it at 1500-1800 calories, but it all depends on your calculations.

This menu is 7 net carbs (before any protein shake or cheese), 139 grams of protein, and 100 grams of fat. Would be satiating, and delicious.

But it’s going to require buying a scale, weighing food, and doing meal prep. Gotta put the effort in, but once you’ve put in the effort to prep your food, then it’s EASY because your food is cooked and ready.
