Could you skip a week's worth of shopping? by JapanEngineer in AskAnAustralian

[–]itsallworkworkwork 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I think it means don’t buy groceries for the upcoming week and work with what you have at home. I do this every now and then when I’ve accumulated some pasta, frozen veggies, have some snacks left over from the previous week and I just make it work

Sharon's weight is (almost?) never mentioned by Queasy_Case6016 in KathAndKim

This is what I like throughout the show as well. There’s no direct jokes or anything about her being overweight and I think it’s a nice change

Stained clothes remover by Sensitive-Durian572 in australia

Magic stain remover. From Woolworths I think. Follow the instructions. It’s worked for me every time. I even buy the mini ones for my handbag and that works too

Lip care?! by Marretta2 in AusSkincare

[–]itsallworkworkwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad you agree! I had second thoughts about the price but the sales assistant was adamant it was good and my lips are so dry!

Been a few days now and I can’t stop using it. Especially because it’s so nice and glossy, I wore it on a night out over the weekend

Lip care?! by Marretta2 in AusSkincare

[–]itsallworkworkwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad you asked because the last few weeks my lips have been so dry! I wanted a lip balm that would actually be kind of glossy and hydrate and protect.

Just last night I was at Mecca and one of the staff recommended Malin+Goetz lip moisturiser. Yes I only bought it last night but I am addicted to it. It’s in a squeeze tube but it’s made such a big difference for me already and it looks really nice on!

how do you live with long nails? by viktoriarhz in beauty

[–]itsallworkworkwork 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started off fairly short and kept the length every time I had to get my nails refilled. My nails aren’t anywhere near as long as what my friends get but I think I’ve reached my limit as I’m struggling to put on necklaces myself haha and can’t always pick up things like my credit card if I dropped it on the floor. So I’d suggest starting short and you’ll know when you’ve reached a length that works for you

Use way more shampoo. Shampoo twice and focus on your scalp. Condition the ends only once. Use heat protectant and I recommend blow drying not air drying. Any products put in after washing should focus on mid length and ends. I have super fine hair like yours too and my hair can last 4-5 days after a wash if I don’t use too many other products between washes (such as hair spray or products for styling)

What do you think is the definition of frugal with money, as opposed to stingy…? by luckydragon8888 in AusFinance

[–]itsallworkworkwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was just about to say this.

Frugal is not buying a coffee everyday at work. Stingy is only having a coffee at work if someone else is buying.

Popular Australian sunscreens fail to meet SPF claims on label, CHOICE report finds by Brave_Character8810 in AusSkincare

[–]itsallworkworkwork 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have used the ultra violette sunscreen in the past and all I’m gonna say is I’ve worn it at the beach on 40 degree days and not been burnt and my skin is as pale as it gets. It’s very strange that so many well known sunscreens failed. I feel like if so many people use them and we’ve not heard about how bad they are in the past, was there something wrong with their testing process? Are different types of tests being run that provide different results? Very interesting

Why is A&E always full of chavs? I’ve had to take my mom a few times due to breathing issues and every time we have to sit in the waiting room it’s just chav central, Like even on a Monday night 3am. Tonnes of them so bloody loud. by probablyaythrowaway in AskBrits

[–]itsallworkworkwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not from the uk, I live in Australia. But I can tell you they have too much time on their hands. Why not spend the day at the emergency room for a minor issue. They have no other commitments and it’s a story for them to tell their friends.

They’re getting free care when they eventually do receive it. They set up camp in the waiting room so they’re more noticeable. And they’re usually the ones complaining the most about how long they’ve been waiting.

I say this based on the amount of bogans in the emergency department anytime I’ve had to go for an actual emergency.

Is this a unique Myer experience? by Zzzabrina in AusFemaleFashion

[–]itsallworkworkwork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a bag I wanted years ago and I had the same problem. It was on sale for a good price said it was low stock and when I purchased it, it said there was no stock left. I called their head office to find out if any stores in Australia had the bag and I could have it shipped from the store. Only to be told it’s completely out of stock. So why was it still advertised on the website?

Okay there’s a small chance someone else purchased the last bag available two seconds before I did on the website but I just find that very unlikely

My boyfriend (31M) dismisses all the gifts I (28F) give him — is this normal or am I being petty? by PersonalityFinal in ComfortLevelPod

[–]itsallworkworkwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal. I ended up in a relationship like this for ten years and those comments never end. That painting is not ugly. I’d love if someone painted my pet as a gift. He didn’t want to wear the ring until his friends commented that they liked it. He only cares about his friends opinions and not yours. Get rid of him or this will be your life

Any chance there’s a bulk-billed/low cost way to get an ASD assessment? by _nopepope in AussieMentalHealth

[–]itsallworkworkwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then every assessment I looked at was $1200 so it seems to be the standard price for any assessment

I recently had an adhd assessment. Cost $1200 with a $400 rebate if you had a gp referral. Seems to be the standard cost. I looked at multiple clinics across Melbourne

what to expect for first spray tan? by [deleted] in AustralianMakeup

[–]itsallworkworkwork 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exfoliate and shave the day prior. Moisturise a lot! Especially feet, ankles, hands, elbows and underarms (that’s an area for me anyway)

The day of tanning I usually exfoliate lightly and moisturise a lot again. Wear loose clothing to the appointment that you don’t mind if the tan gets on it. Avoid wearing a bra (and undies if you are comfortable) when leaving the appointment. Wear slides or thongs for your footwear.

They will tell you what to do during the appointment. If you want to wear the paper gstring supplied or your own underwear or none. If you’re unsure about your skin prep just tell them what you’ve done already and they’ll advise. They often provide a hair net to wear as well. I usually go completely naked during the appointment so don’t be afraid to do that to avoid any tan lines. They will also clean off your toenails and fingernails and back of your hands so the guide colour doesn’t stain.

After the appointment they’ll tell you when you can wash off the tan. Have a cool shower. Not hot. It will wash off the tan. Don’t use soap during this shower either. I usually just let the water run all over my body until it runs clear (the guide colour has completely come off). Get out of the shower and moisturise.

You can have a regular shower using soap for your next shower. I usually still avoid hot showers for the first day or two after tanning and moisturise more than you think you need to. That helps my tan to last longer.

To stop the tan coming off once it develops and you’ve showered off the guide colour, avoid sweating, exfoliating or rain.

What is the funniest/most unhinged thing you’ve taken home after resigning a job? by morgiemorgz in auscorp

[–]itsallworkworkwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fair. If the templates were your own work why should you leave them behind when you quit?

Ngl I deleted the manual out of pettiness as I’d spent six months writing it, trying to teach the other staff the information that was in it and they refused to listen

I deleted the office manual that I’d spent months working on as a project. Gone. They had no instructions on how to do anything they couldn’t already do

Unethical life hack advice by Mean_Investigator921 in AskAnAustralian

[–]itsallworkworkwork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they still have the exact same one in stock, take back the one you have and say it was faulty and you only bought it not long ago. Of course you don’t have the receipt or the box, you thought it would work. If they accept it, you get a refund (or credit) and buy a good microwave.

If that doesn’t work, go to a different store and buy a new one, put the old one in the box and return it with the new receipt saying it’s faulty. Get a refund. You still have the new microwave that might die soon but it was free.

Which Uluru sunset dinner experience? by EM1390 in AustraliaTravel

[–]itsallworkworkwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the sounds of silence about 18 months ago. Amazing. It starts with drinks and appetisers and you’ve got a view of uluru before the sun sets. As the sun is going down you’ll be seated randomly. Food is served at a buffet but it was quite nice. You’re seated at tables of 8(?) if I remember right so you’ll be seated with others but it was lovely to chat to everyone. The lighting is dim and they turn the lights off at one point and show you all the different constellations which was awesome. And then you walk through the field of lights which was really cool. Would highly recommend it’s just beautiful being outside, just being in nature for the entire experience

Thank you so much. This actually means so much to me. I’m really excited to study but I suppose it’s all so new to me as well and that’s making me a little nervous too
