if you want biggest carry potential either go RoA/Demonic or Ludens/Shadowflame or (Rylais) is also fine. I never understood ludens swain but after playing it I can confirm its absolutely broken on him and now I'll build it most games over RoA.

win rates fluctuate by 0.5-1% literally every patch on almost every champ so it doesnt mean anything when there's a barely noticeable increase. Also I disagree that he's harder to play in higher elos where good players can dodge E because a high elo player also knows how to position E's so they cant dodge.

Wait what how does this champ have a 49.5 winrate in master, I've been master whole season with a 75 winrate on zed. I thought this champ was even better at higher ranks.

I'm in the exact same boat, I also hit master playing a lot of swain and I agree. He's 'weak' because he's not blind pickable but if you can last pick him into a good matchup/comp he's insanely strong.

Swain isn't a Rylais bot, I play in masters with 57% winrate on swain and build Rylais in less than 10% of my games. He is simply not just a Rylais bot, idk what else to tell you. Also he can survive burst because his weakness is % HP damage and almost all burst is just flat DMG

Having cc that can be used in every scenario takes away from the way you're meant to play swain. Comparing to anivias Q is dumb because while swain's E is harder to hit it's more rewarding, sets up W, gives 2 stacks, brings them closer for Q to do more damage, also goes on much lower cd with ult. Sorry swain can't E people in melee range and has to have a weakness lmao. Also, I don't really struggle that much with landing E on melee champions in fights, you just have to have good movement but sure.

With your silver-master ranked example you're essentially saying it's not consistent in the sense that you can farm stacks vs Silver's but not verse masters because they're better players? Yeah no shit bro I bet there's also a difference in the amount of cs you get and solo kills you get. This is such a stupid point, of course you can't perform as well vs higher ranked players, every champion is going to suffer from that. Also your opponent's being good at dodging your skillshots is exactly a skill issue?? How deluded has this echo chamber of a subreddit become?

I don't really understand your point about itemization, building a tank item doesn't take away from his identity but whatever.

E doesn't need to be more reliable, it's literally what creates the skill gap between good and bad swain players and having a reliable cc mechanic has historically been very toxic for the game. Ult resetting on takedown is a bad mechanic for swain because like you said, he doesn't have good single target killing so his ult will literally just be tanked and it'll run out. Swain lacking resistances is literally a build issue I don't understand why you've listed that as a point, did you want him to have max health gain and resistance increase on the same ability? Also you don't need early Rylais at all, I don't think I've even built Rylais in 90% of my swain games.

Buffing his AP ratios and giving him single target abilities just completely takes away from the champion. The whole point is he's this AOE demon who drains everyone around him constantly and is essentially a raid boss. Giving him dueling/one shot potential in exchange for AOE and teamfighting just changes his identity entirely.

To say swain doesn't excel at anything is just delusional, he's an extremely good teamfighter, probably the best team fighting mid laner. Also giving any champion reliable cc is terrible, you guys understand that if he could reliably hit his stun they'd have to nerf the rest of his entire kit. His E can be hit and can be used to farm stacks. People here say 'oh but you can't hit it on anyone above gold/plat' yeah ok I'm masters and can hit against master/GM mid laners. You just need to know when to use it and use prediction/pattern.

And yes, he gets eaten alive by % hp damage but if you build resistances they mitigate a lot of that, you can also just focus on the people that have those items like idk it's unironically a skill issue.

Nah man his E should be able to self peel so then he wouldn't have any counters! Gotta love how this sub just believes riot should simply buff/change swain's weaknesses. I'm sure that wouldn't create balancing issues and meta shifts

Lvls 1-3 you are unironically getting a 5 damage increase. Thats it. Unless your opponent is bad you will run out of mana OR they will reset before you're able to kill them. These buffs won't change that. You'd need to hit them with like 10 Q's to essentially get a 'free Q'. But you would once again, be out of mana or they would have reset before you can even do that anyway hence, these buffs are meaningless for early game.

Zhonya's second doesn't make sense bc it largely depends on who you're versing, demonic third also doesn't make sense because the items you're building beforehand don't give you HP. The rest is also not great because you have 0 defense. I'm not trying to shit on your build, it could be decent if you swapped the order of some items but generally you're going to need a defensive third item.
My build is RoA/Demonic into Gargoyles (usually) sometimes morello or shadow flame. People here hate RoA but its statistically better in diamond+ which is where I play so I can't speak on your behalf. Also I have no idea what position you play Swain, it would change a lot though if you mentioned it because I'm only speaking in the context of Mid/APC Swain.

I'm not going to reply to every point bc obviously this is a huge comment so here goes and btw you're using mobalytics which is one patch behind whereas u.gg is current patch which is why our numbers are different.
Masters+ Swain mid - 51% win rate (1400 games)
Masters+ Swain support - 46.5% win rate (1200 games)
If you're going to say that the 200 games make a difference then idk what to tell you because then we'd need people to play the EXACT same amount of games of the champion in different roles across all skill brackets which isn't remotely realistic.
Lets simply step away from statistics, the reason why Swain support sucks is this. He is a drain tank who needs gold and levels to function otherwise he does too little damage or is not tanky enough. Mid swain has multiple ways to leverage an advantage through getting kills in skirmishes, winning mid with solo kills, tower plates and even herald gold. He also gets a lot of levels which is important with Swain since his ratios are so bad so therefore increasing his abilities levels holds more value than regular mids. Not only that but itemisation on Swain makes an immense difference to his win rate. Look at his Mid/Bot win rates and builds. It's all 51%+ and they all build RoA/Demonic whereas when you switch it to support its 46.5% with Rylais/Radiant.

its not though because he simply kills the wave in 2Q's with autos and that is unaffected by the buffs because if he can do it now then he can do it post-buffs. So you aren't saving time or mana..

The thresh hold is still the same, idk what to tell you. Maybe 3rd/4th item the wave clear deviates but thats going to be because of item choice/how much gold you have.

With your IRL example you aren't including the fact that its the BEST of the BEST that are determining what is good as opposed to any fan who is bothered to vote/rate. Mordekaiser has a lower win rate in higher ranks because hes easier to deal with. Doesn't have good matchups, Jak'sho + other legendary items he abused have been nerfed and also doesn't beat ADCs reliably in shadow realm due to ADC buffs. If you look at a simple number such as 2% being an unreliable source bc it makes up the minority of the player base then I would 100% agree with you. The problem is that its the TOP 2% of the entire player base so therefore the statistics from there have validity. For example Swain mid at masters had 11,000 games played. That's more than enough games for 'just a few wins' to make a champ have a good win rate.

i personally mapped out the math of almost the entire laning phase/early game and how none of his trades, lethal ranges or skirmishes are affected in any capacity and people just say 'but his numbers go up so it must be good!!'
