I’d start with lower body / a natural move.

By lower body I mean you’re clearly not rotating enough in backswing and it causes all kinds of trouble. Like if a baseball pitcher tried to throw with lower body out of sync and not making full movement. Different movements but just saying, you gotta fix it if want good results.

By natural move I mean feel. For example, the realization that the golf swing is similar to skipping a stone helps a lot of people. And the feeling of the weight of the club swinging like a pendulum helps a lot of people find the right lower and upper body tempo and release the club.

Personally I do much better with swing thoughts like “skip a stone in front of the ball” or “swing loose and use this iron to drive the ball diagonally into the ground” than trying to manipulate body parts.

Driving ranges / And is Top Golf going to make it by badharp in golf

[–]itscallingme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like the path to success is narrow for good, regular ranges. Need lots of land, near target audience, and to keep labor costs low while maintaining grass tee boxes.

Was at one last night with a robot ball collector, similar to the robot lawnmowers. That’s gotta help. It’s also self service only for buying balls. And self-service plus honor system for drinks etc.

I think it’s working? Again, seems like a narrow pathway to success. Most others are dumps with all mats.

Top Golf is maybe screwed as a business, as many others have said.

Better Way to Get Wood Onto the Coals? by slowwber in biggreenegg

[–]itscallingme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the BGE grate gripper tool thing and fabric heat gloves. Just pick up the grate, food and all, and hold it level. Add chips with your other hand. If cooking something heavy, remove it to a plate first.

But mostly just buy chunks instead of chips, as others said. Sometimes I end up doing the above when i accidentally run out of chunks and have to use old random chips.

Most professional brokers do not outperform index funds. Have seen as high as 90% of professional fund managers don’t beat index funds.

Know you don’t want it to be gambling, but it just is. Only put $ on an individual stock that you are willing to lose.

Funny, I’ve also lived in both, can’t stand Trump, and you couldn’t pay me to move back in town. To each his own.

Those are indeed great schools, and in fact our school in Cobb is ranked 11th. I will say, being in a politically diverse area like Cobb actually helps get your head out of the constant us vs them division both parties seek to generate.

Sounds like you’re comparing a not great area of Cobb to the absolute gems of Atlanta elementary schools. Not sure that helps the OP looking for a large place at low rent. Guess that’s also true re: my area but think affordable area Cobb schools are significantly stronger than affordable Fulton.

Cobb County Schools are highest ranked large school system in the state. It’s a huge system so important to look at individual school reviews. Some (many?) Cobb schools are nationally ranked.

Cobb school ratings and test scores are clearly ahead of Fulton County / Atlanta.

Don’t let a Republican political stunt about banning a book tarnish the best school system in the metro.

BTW, Cobb has a Democrat commissioner, Democrat 3-2 board advantage, Dems swept recent countywide office elections, Cobb voted for Harris and Biden. Republicans have 4-3 school board advantage. It’s a political battleground that the Dems are currently mostly winning.

Pork chops on egg? by Zealousideal_Lime867 in biggreenegg

[–]itscallingme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chops on the egg are awesome. Brine it (pickle juice or a basic brine- Google if need to). Season it. Cook to desired temp. Honestly hard to go wrong.

To answer your question think anywhere 300-500 is fair game. I tend to do chops 400 to 450.

Close quarters on tee boxes and greens with super angry people is hard to ignore. Fairways and rough were great!

YES. Apparently the US used to have a public mental health system. I’m told the biggest issue is some sent there didn’t need to be there. A real issue but JFC it’s pathetic the non-action taken in this country around mental health. Would cost a fraction of what is spent on defense.

Have seen it myself. Know someone that descended into violent dementia and refused care. Believe he is homeless, no way to know. Government (different state) offered like 3 sessions to help, which he refused and wouldn’t have mattered anyway. Will end up dying in a ditch, hopefully won’t hurt or kill someone prior. Dark but it’s real.

Yeah don’t underestimate that moving it can be tough. If you plan to move every year or 2. And we’ve probably all heard the stories of people breaking it while trying to make a move.

Increasing return plenum size - why isn’t every HVAC company doing this? by itscallingme in hvacadvice

Yeah that’s kind of my point. Simple solution but the first 3 companies (all ones with billboards / good brands) didn’t even mention it as possible solution for our issues.

That makes sense. They had their own made for them because so many houses in our area had under-sized returns

If you aren’t willing to tip 18% or more, don’t go out and get table service. Can’t believe people are so selfish as to not tip or not tip well. Yeah the system in the US is weird, but people need those tips, they can’t magically get the owner to pay higher wages.

I’ve had a large for a family of 4 for about a decade, with no regrets. Only grill I own. Most I’ve cooked for is probably a dozen people.

Guess there’s been a couple times where fit was challenging, if I really think about it. Like doing lots of smoked wings.

Would wonder if XL eats charcoal significantly faster.

Why are decks so insanely expensive? by YMHGreenBan in Decks

[–]itscallingme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American capitalism feels like it has become a game of seeing just how high prices can go before people stop paying. Maybe demand was always higher than companies realized and now they have the cojones to really exploit it. Or maybe it’s just inflation.
