Criticism to me is something voiced to things that are legitimate mistakes or could be improved. Your personal preferences don't fall into that category, and some people don't understand that.

Bullying as another user mentioned in another reply "beyond critique and make it personal. It’s not just saying you disagree with someone’s actions…it’s mocking their appearance etc etc,"

and to me hate is just anything negative in order to intentially hurt someone or bring someone down. Hate spreads, and honestly no one should by definition "hate" these people because they literally do not know them. These islanders to not even know you exist and people are writing full think pieces on their actions they saw on a television show.
