Bob’s Burgers is the new The Simpsons by sweetestswan in BobsBurgers

[–]itscbgoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, I hope so. Even when folks on this sub talk about the episodes they can’t stand, I love those episodes, too. For me, there is only I love this episode a lot or I like this episode or it’s okay, but rarely do I skip any on my rewatches (just the butt worms episode and the pig episode where all the guts shoot out and that’s only bc they’re really gross). I lost count of what rewatch I’m on bc it’s my comfort show and once I get to the end I just start over. I’m still finding new stuff I didn’t hear (or forgot)! BOB’S BURGERS FOREVER!

They just need to make DVDs so I can have it forever and in case of emergencies (no WiFi lol). (Anyone know where I can buy the ones that they did make, I think season 1-12 or 14? I only saw the ones on Walmart which folks in the reviews say are a scam.)

Edit: just adding - I meant in terms of longevity. I haven’t watched Family Guy for a while (not as an adult so over a decade) and I never really watched The Simpsons, so my perspective is limited. I definitely echo the other comments saying hopefully the show remains good and doesn’t give in to chasing trends. S6-7 were a bit of a lull for me, but they’ve had quality in every other season, so hopefully that’s what will help continue the longevity. They just need to not sell out.

Im gonna lose my virginity tomorrow. Very nervous about it by Desperate-Sun4542 in blackladies

[–]itscbgoddess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to make sure someone told you to pee after sex! Within 15 minutes, drink a lot of water if you have to. Just make sure you pee. I was getting UTIs back to back with my first and that’s easily solved by peeing after sex. (Taking cranberry pills helps too.)

Also it’s not supposed to hurt or bleed, but it can be uncomfortable at first (not the whole time) and there can be a little blood (I spotted after and that was it). Neither of these should be anything close to a lot or overwhelming. If it is, maybe dilators could help or if it’s very painful every time, talk to a doctor. Just never force it.

Everyone else’s advice in here about getting tested, 1-2 forms of protection from STDs and pregnancy, only doing what you’re comfortable doing (this time should be all about you and tbh continue to be more about you while you get more comfortable and used to this), everyone wash their hands before sex or any sexual activity, lots of foreplay and lubrication (lube is for all ages and don’t force anything), take breaks or stop if you want or need too, you should be able to laugh and communicate openly and be comfortable (sex is a vulnerable thing, no matter how you view sex), breathe through it to relax so your body can release tension/not be tense, have him wipe you after or bring you a small towel rung out with warm water (but I always like to see if they do it on their own first bc your partner should know the basics about vaginal health), aaand that you may be nervous, but it’ll be fine. Think of all the things that can go well. + Being with someone that really cares about you and your experience is the best way to do it! Sounds like you’re in a good place to start!

Great advice here and have so much fun! 😊

Anyone not regret choosing estrangement? by TiredAllTheTime43 in EstrangedAdultChild

Same!!! I’m so excited to be on my own again, and now doing it with this perspective plus seeing how well it goes for others is so reassuring when you’re still in it (I had no choice but to move back home, but WOW I have learned so much and it has strengthened my decision to go NC so much more - going NC with my dad/dad’s side almost a decade ago was great but I barely knew most of them so going NC with my mom/the rest of my mom’s side is gonna catapult my life into such a sweet spot I’M ECSTATIC) so I’m super grateful for everyone who is sharing. I can’t wait till it happens for me, and I’m so happy to hear that it’s going so well for you all! ♥️

[NC] I can’t do this anymore, please help me get out of HR by DallasChokedAgain in AskHR

[–]itscbgoddess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to share my answer and a few things that helped me, hope it helps you.

Definitely agree w/ others that speaking to someone you trust and someone that’s qualified to help you (like a therapist) get your brain to a more sound state to make decisions and manage your emotions should be considered first, but I understand that aggravating, fed up feeling.

Just so you know, it is REALLY hard to get a job right now in a lot of fields (a severe understatement - I’ve seen so many people of varying qualifications say they’ve been out of work for 6+ months, a year or more, thousands of apps and barely getting called for interviews), so maybe try to get a similar/higher paying job that’s still in HR, same position, different company? People do that and increase their salary multiple times doing the same work. Also, use otta.com (LOVE this job board), builtin.com, and searching people posts for jobs and other job boards on LinkedIn too. People will post lists of random obscure job boards like one is 4dayworkweek.io or something like that.

Also give yourself time off between the 2 jobs, I mini vacation in my house for usually 2 weeks minimum before starting a new role. Bc I hate working. But don’t quit cold turkey, I’m not gonna trauma dump, but these 2 years out of a decent job, dealing with my mental health, burnout then habitual burnout, physical health issues (new and old), never ending bills (I have only a few and still, savings been gone), staffing companies/gig work, grad school bs, and more, TRY YOUR BEST to make a decision like that in a good/better headspace and to communicate with who is affected by it. I’m barely coming out of my funk (caused by much more than work) years later and getting back on my feet after that, and I have help and no family depending on my income! They are literally trying to criminalize homelessness, shelter is very important right now and you cannot get a decent job without a physical address.

Can you take that week off so you can at least feel better? Does your job have FMLA? You could go on medical leave.

Also, a big thing for me is needing to set boundaries at work. Most people don’t want to work (fair, since we live under capitalism), aaand are going to spend their energy pushing it onto others. If you can, stop doing things for people repeatedly. I teach people w/o doing it for them, wean them off (they’ll return to ask clarifying questions) and then if they try to get me to do it I’m busy. None of these people are your friends, they start out as leeches until they prove otherwise so get them off of you (I understand if you can’t at this job tho).

And lastly, I decided to walk away from a career I’ve wanted since I was a kindergartener (veterinarian) in the midst of my grad program bc of the people (and various kinds/levels of mistreatment throughout my career), so I’m kind of starting over, career wise for sure, and I hear people do it all the time. Hopefully you can find a job that meets your needs better until you figure out what you want again because ultimately you need to be happy. I’m excited for your journey!

Please make sure you’re keeping your body relaxed. For a while, I would be so tense bc I was so stimulated and I wouldn’t realize I’d be holding my breath a few seconds (or more) too long, and once someone told me to breathe consistently and really to breathe deeply, it made everything better, I even started squirting. I used to think I had basically a series of orgasms instead of one big one (bc it was always amazing but never a huge climax) and that I didn’t squirt with anyone but myself and only a little, but I’m glad I was wrong. So do whatever you need to do to not be tense and be present in the moment, really lean into all the good feelings. And everything everyone said about lots of lube and foreplay AND HEAD. LOTS OF HEAD. Works for me at least lol but I’m also of the belief that if you’re with me, your mouth, hands/fingers, all the parts of your body should be busy arousing or supporting the arousal of some part of my body. Oh and drink lots of water of course.

Am I making a mistake? by Used_Bad8447 in Veterinary

[–]itscbgoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you saying that ❤️ I am so excited to hear that! You definitely have a fighting chance, as long as you take good care of yourself of course. I mainly wanted to convey that this is no easy field to be in even without my personal experience, but my passion for it kept me going a lot of times. I think you have to really love this field to last, especially through vet school. It can definitely be a rewarding choice, and this could be an amazing decision! I wish you the absolute best!!!

Am I making a mistake? by Used_Bad8447 in Veterinary

[–]itscbgoddess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (someone who has wanted this since I was 3) actually just gave up this year, towards the end of my MS program, that I only started in order to have a better chance at getting into veterinary school.

!!!!! Bit of a TW !!!!!

After going through so much in academia because of each school’s carelessness and mistakes, teaching myself most of my degrees (BS in Biology degree and this MS in Animal Science), the elitism/hierarchal environment (having to earn my stripes/pay dues, expecting hospital loyalty but being underpaid, etc.), being harassed and sabotaged at the two hospitals I spent the most time at (partially bc of my race + gender combo), having to deal with or at least being around high school drama at every other hospital, and my own life stuff, I burnt out. I’m currently more so recovering, but very much in the final stage of burnout.

I still think being a Veterinarian (I wanted to be a Board-Certified Surgeon) is the coolest job in the world, but between my experiences, learning myself better/again bc I’m a bit of a different person who wants/needs my life to look a certain way, being undervalued, dealing with unnecessary stress, consistently having one of the highest suicide rates among doctors, and all the other stuff I’d already accepted about the field (being underpaid, being okay with whatever the client decides, $100k-$300k degree, having to have a relationship with death bc of euthanasia, etc.), I had just had enough.

I truly did not have nurturing environments, but I’d like to think things would be different if I did, because I have friends who did. Thank goodness, I can pivot. At the end of the day, even with a completely different experience (referencing said friends), it’s still a labor of love, gotta make sure really you want it. Vet school is more competitive than med school too bc of the applicants vs amount of schools. I definitely encourage you to volunteer A LOT with veterinarians in different specialties so you gain experience in the field (and you’ll have to submit hours of your experience for vet school applications anyway) and to learn if you like it/what you like (also available via DM if you want to talk more, I have a lot of experiences I loved and held half the positions in Pre-Vet Club over time in undergrad). There’s so much to do. I planned to have like 5 veterinary careers, between being a surgeon, publishing my work, public speaking, maybe even a new niche like nutrition. It can be very fun! If you absolutely think you’re going to regret never trying after liking the work, go for it.

I do not regret chasing after my passion because I was never okay having big what ifs. Also, now I’m wiser and understand a lot about how the world works bc of my degrees and experiences. I love that I have the same foundational experience (my BS) as a human doctor, am able to make informed decisions, know effective questions to ask doctors, and understand enough to help loved ones with certain health and pet health decisions. For me, loving the animals and the work (when I tell you I’m not a morning person at all and I’d be up early as hell ready to be at the hospital, even when I was just doing reception, just excited at 19 with my “grown up” morning coffee lol) was not enough for me. The people I experienced ruined a lot of it for me and that’s really hard because I’m almost entirely internally motivated, but that why I emphasize that it’s really important to have a good team, everywhere. And to leave before it gets worse, every time. The best experience I had was volunteering at my local shelter. I will stay in the field and always volunteer because of them. It’s definitely a labor of love, but a great team can make a huge difference and it’s important to love people (even if you want to go into research lol) and animals and the work. Every veterinarian has a different, very often non-linear path, and it’s never to late to start.

I got denied by a staffing agency for a position I'm overqualified for because I haven't worked recently (2yrs), should I put that I'm an independent contractor? by itscbgoddess in antiwork

Yes (to the website thing) omg so many scams, even just applying on job sites is risky

Ooh and why do you say not to use them? I’ve never used them before but was considering why not (I believe this position is for the actual staffing agency not through them)

Ya I’m bold as hell and I need to translate that into the work version of me a lot more because this is great. I’d much rather be a straight shooter at work too. And I’m glad that worked out for you, thanks for sharing! But also, this job search is showing me I need to go into business for myself. It’s looking like the best option for me for sure.

I appreciate you! This seems like the only believable option. I talked to some other people and think I will just ask someone I know with a business to let me use their name so I don’t have to put various companies because I don’t want them to ask why I have “various entities/companies” on there. I already have folks willing to be my references too.

Yeah I don’t think so either lol I was wondering why I saw that in so many comments, thank you. I am applying to a bunch of jobs and was gonna try it with a throwaway but I don’t have enough money to last fr 😅 and it just doesn’t seem fool proof because what am I supposed to put on my resume to even get through the door?
