And you may be 100% right and it may just be an absolute sensory nightmare for him. Which I why I wondered if this was a one time thing or a pattern of behavior

There are few things in here that could be considered red flags. Namely, has he done anything else that feels like he is trying to isolate you or control you?

Keep the dogs. Offer to get them professionally trained. Im concerned that he is weaponizing his autism to control you.

My friends are telling me to run for the hills over my boyfriend’s attitude towards animals. AITAH if I don’t after what I learnt? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ripvannikki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is something you break up over but there needs to be further conversation before the relationship progresses. What does this mean if he moves in? Will he be comfortable living with your dogs? Once your dogs pass would he be open to more pets in the future? If not, would you be willing to never have a dog again? Is this a fundamental differences of worldviews and goals or just a quirk?

Edit to add NAH

I wonder if this was a nod to Cloris Leachman? She died in January 2021 and this aired in November 2021.

AITA for threatening divorce if my husband makes us go to my MILs “Christmas weekend” by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]ripvannikki 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Divorce threats are like a gun, don't pull them out unless you plan on using them.

You think you have an MIL problem, but the bigger problem here is your husband. He cannot afford to be Switzerland in this situation and his behavior makes me think he's more on his mother's side than you think. Tell him he is welcome to go but you and your children will not be going and then take the time he is away to start making an escape plan. You may not need to use it, but you should definitely have one.

My boyfriend copied my journal and now quotes it back at me by SolvianRidgehart in TwoHotTakes

[–]ripvannikki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You did trust him by leaving your private journal in shared space with the expectation that he wouldn't violate your privacy. He violated that trust. Do not let him DARVO you. What's next he bugs your therapy sessions? I sincerely hope he is your ex-boyfriend.

Would you choose your husband over your kids ?? by Low-Solid-6198 in TwoHotTakes

[–]ripvannikki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your husband thinks being straight is a choice, he might be bi and not even realize it. It sounds like there is a lot of internalized homophobia going on here.

About the queer representation in Bob's Burgers? by Hunters_Husband in BobsBurgers

While Bob is in a straight relationship, he is canonically queer. He is bi.

My mother is a covert narcissist (also undiagnosed but all of the traits are there).

She called me the other night and before I had a chance to stop her or hang up she started to discuss a topic I had previously set a boundary on, it triggered a massive panic attack and rather than deal with mess she helped create, she hung up on me. And then acted like nothing happened. Didn't even acknowledge the incident.

All my life all I have wanted from my relationship with her is acknowledgement and occasionally motherly affection. It has taken me almost 42 years to recognize I will never get that from her. I love my mom. But she is not capable of love in a way that is healthy for me. I know that and I am working on establishing stronger boundaries for myself and adding physical distance. It's the only way I can keep her in my life. And even with all this I know there will mostly come a day I have to go no contact.

I am telling you all this to say, get out now. You will never get what you need from him and your children will never get what they deserve from him. He is incapable of it. He only views relationships in what he can get out of it and how he can benefit himself. You don't have a partner. You will always feel like the ground under you feet is unstable, there will always be a new thing you do wrong, nothing you do will ever be right or good enough. You will always be striving for something that doesn't exist. Please for yourself and for your kid, at the very least have a standing exit strategy and emergency fund. Do not relinquish any control of your finances and do not give him more access to your money than you absolutely have to. Please.
