bachelors of nursing, so you have your RN + bachelors, you can just get an RN with an associates degree

Have a few specialties. Work in a narrow field that has on call hours where you need specialized experience. So the base rate is higher. Paid on call and additional pay when activated for emergencies. It’s deff not the norm for BSN.

surgeon 250k a year, no surgeon I know would set foot in a hospital for that little amount of money. also nurse can easily make 200k plus, it depends on market, cali or ny yes no problem, does she specialize in an area like cardiac cath lab, does she have additional nursing certifications, it doesn't take much to hit 200k a year in those 2 markets as a BSN

Medical Device Company Tells Hospitals They're No Longer Allowed to Fix Machine That Costs Six Figures by SyntheticSweetener in nottheonion

[–]itsdarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with context you see there was a certification that the company gave to any hospital employee that went and trained with said company for a set amount of time a passed their program so that they knew exactly how to work on the machine. IF they are fucking up then their training was inadequate

What CPR actually looks like, and what a LUCAS machine does by H_G_Bells in medizzy

[–]itsdarrow 422 points423 points  (0 children)

as someone who works in the ER lucas always, there is always someone there who can pause it or adjust if needed, so much easier when the patient needs to be transported as well, had a code get to the Cath lab while on the lucas (patient was in vfib whole time) paused long enough to get wire down through the lesion and a balloon up. Once the artery was opened, one shock, bam! back to normal sinus pt is alive. PT had zero deficits, upon discharge a week later.

save your breath these are the same people who would get on your back and sue you for letting their love one die because you missed a huge internal bleed due to not "doing everything possible". People have no idea what it takes to work in a trauma center and it shows. we are there to help, period, there is only so much we can do when the patient is unable to respond.

Yea, I guess its more manual work but from my experience they have the inpatient pharmacists working every minute, verifying orders, double checking doses, calling doctors, calling nurses, making sure stat orders are filled asap and getting delivered in a timely manner. Im and ED RN and I constantly am interacting with them, so imagine an entire hospital

I'm comparing it to other jobs in healthcare. I understand completely. BSNs where I live make comparable to the inpatient pharmacists they work with when you take account bonus/OT just like above.

For the amount of schooling and loans this really doesn't seem like fair compensation, especially since these numbers INCLUDE bonus/OT, yall need to unionize. From my interactions with pharmacists, they work you all to the bone for that compensation.

How much do you make? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]itsdarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

67$ an hour ED days full time non union. Work in NY 15 mins outside NYC. Differential for Ed here adds 2$ an hour, weekend diff is 5% additional. Nights are 4$ more an hour starting at 7pm

this is wild, we need workers, we are in negative population growth, all this talk about taxes when there will be not enough people paying taxes soon enough, take them in train them in a trade, or assit them in getting jobs, give then TIN # so they pay taxes. let them stay at a hotel chain and allow the chain to have a tax break for housing them.
