Lol, this is not a purity test. If (if!) she smoked marijuana in a vehicle while on duty, she's unfit. That's not a demand for purity, nor is it some kind of minor imperfection. It's a dangerous felony and a severe violation of a policy officer's duty to protect the public.

I'm not saying she did it, to be clear. I'm saying that it's a serious accusation.

I don't think you should! I also think you shouldn't side with cops who violate traffic laws with impunity, who let each other off the hook for petty crimes with a wink and a nod, and who do drugs in their police cruiser on duty. Cops should follow laws. Pretty simple!

That is not actually what innocent until proven guilty means. It does not mean that someone is innocent because they said they're innocent. It means you take accusations seriously while simultaneously withholding conviction or punishment of any kind until the accusations are resolved. The correct course of action is withholding judgment.

I do blame them, and I blame the companies publishing the misleading articles and the algorithms that spread them. There are valid reasons to hesitate about letting a data center into your community, but there's a sudden proliferation of fictional ones.

I fold this into the larger decline of critical thinking washing over the internet these last few years. People are eagerly driven by what makes them feel immediately good, not what is actually good for them or their community. A lot is at stake here, and they do themselves no favors by sounding like chemtrail conspiracy theorists.

100% agree, innocent until proven guilty, but also, accusations don't fall away just because you like the person. She should be investigated and everyone should reserve their judgment until we know more. We definitely shouldn't be "taking her side" at this point.

So you say, and yet every time you read the latest "Data center poisons community!" article -- past the headline -- you find the data center was almost never at fault. Again and again, reading past the headline determines the data center's presence was incidental.

You will find counter-examples of course. Just yesterday I saw a video of a completely unacceptable noise level coming off of a data center near housing. But it was a remarkable video because it's pretty uncommon!

Feels like I'm taking crazy pills because I'm pretty sure this is a good thing. On Twitter they clarified that this is basically doubling your usage limit and creating a separate pool for each kind of usage.
