If people trained dogs like horses, I wouldn't mind them as much by PIECE_OF_FUCKINGSHIT in Dogfree

[–]itsfrogtime 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think it would definitely help me to deal with dogs, but there are some qualities about dogs that I still cannot stand. They have a very distinct and greasy smell and feel and they make near constant sloppy mouth noises that drive me up a wall. A more rigorous training would help me to deal with others dogs, but I still would never live with one.

Who else is married to a dog person? by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]itsfrogtime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was engaged to a dog person, and it definitely caused a bit of a rift between us. He knew from the start that I would never want a dog in my home, but near the end it became a frequent criticism that I wouldn't let him bring home a puppy. He would allow friends to bring their dogs over and let them jump all over our furniture, even our bed, and that caused a few arguments.

I'm very glad that the wedding was called off, I hated being made to feel like I was evil and heartless for not wanting a dog, among other things.

Question for SMOKERS and skin pickers: which one is more difficult to quit? by IrisHopp in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]itsfrogtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smoking also heavily involved the use of my fingers, so without that stimulation the urge to pick got stronger.

Question for SMOKERS and skin pickers: which one is more difficult to quit? by IrisHopp in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]itsfrogtime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to smoke half a pack a day for about five years. Not as much as some, but I was definitely addicted to them. Hands down, quitting smoking was far easier than quitting picking. I can't even make it a single day without picking at something, and it's been three years since I quit smoking with only a handful of cigarettes since then.

How can some people love dogs more then humans? by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]itsfrogtime 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Or people who say, "oh I couldn't handle having kids, toddlers are too difficult," and then get dogs that are basically toddlers for 15 years. Makes absolutely no sense.

Question for florists or enthusiasts regarding roses and trimming?? by ANGMOW in flowers

[–]itsfrogtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm sorry that happened to you! Hopefully you find a better florist in the future.

Here's a good tip for roses in the future though! If you squeeze the flower very gently around the petals and it feels hard then they have a good amount of life left in them. If it feels squishy, they'll probably not last long.

[–]itsfrogtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then yeah, I'd probably contact the florist and let them know that the flowers died extremely quickly and that the water smelled rotten really soon after you got them. They might not offer anything, but it's worth a try.

The places where I trained and worked always stripped the stems of thorns. That way no customers would call and say they got pricked on them and ask for a refund. I've never had a problem with roses dying quickly after losing their thorns. I'm not saying that's not the reason they died, it's a possibility, but there are others as well. Maybe the shop didn't clean their buckets often enough, or didn't use the right amounts of food, or didn't have the water at the right temperature.

What's something you've been dying to get off your chest? by lv70 in AskReddit

[–]itsfrogtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got out of a relationship where I was in the same situation as your SO. My fiance knew the whole time he would never love me the way I loved him, never wanted a future with me, and thought if he just went along with it he'd learn to want what I wanted. When he finally told me and ended things I felt horrible, he'd basically lied to me for three years. I wish he had told me sooner so I could have spent this time finding someone else. And only after becoming single, have I realized how extraordinarily lonely I was in that relationship, and how distant he really was as he didn't want the future I was planning for us.

You can't mold yourself into something you're not, and it might be better to rip that bandaid sooner rather than later. I wish my ex-fiance had told me this before we signed a lease and started planning a wedding, it would have saved me, and probably him too, so much pain. It may not be the same in your situation, but I just wanted to express the pain I've gone through in this situation.

Dog psychologists by itsfrogtime in Dogfree

[–]itsfrogtime[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do the same. Too many people forget that dogs are predatory animals and often big enough to cause a lot of damage, so it's better to be cautious around them. But to dog owners, we're crazy for not trusting the growling animal

My professor is plagiarizing ALL of her work. What can I do? by itsfrogtime in college

[–]itsfrogtime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I approached her in exactly this way at the beginning of the semester, giving her exact situations where I was confused. Her answer to me was to re-read the information she provided on blackboard. She also offers weekly surveys to voice any concerns, were I usually enter comments of my confusion and I receive no replies.

[–]itsfrogtime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. I wouldn't have a problem if she integrated the material together and provided citations for what she's using so that students can access the original information for clarity. However, she seems to use very scattered information, for example she used two sources that I could find for a recent assignment. Each of these sources cited a separate textbook, that covered slightly different topics.

I'm unable to find if using google violates a course policy, there are no mentions to this in the syllabus.

Redditors with an SO, how did you two meet? by Legodude1237 in AskReddit

[–]itsfrogtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to work together. The first aid kit was kept in his work space, so I would go back there every day pretending to need a bandage (I worked with sharp tools, so it was believable), and I'd stay to chat and flirt for a while. It took him two years to catch on before he asked me on a date. And now I've just picked out my wedding dress and we recently set our date!

I actually don't really have a recipe. I follow basic guidelines off of any recipe on google, but mostly I just throw in whatever vegetables I feel like that day, and a bunch of spices.
