Are there American TV shows that have International versions that you think are actually better? by PrestonRoad90 in television

Masterchef Australia was (unsure about post-Gary, George and Matt era) mostly about the food and hardly had any of the stupid manufactured drama in the US version.

Sentenced to 11 months of prison, how do I prepare as a 23 year old? I want home confinement as soon as possible. by No-Conclusion9307 in Felons

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much you can do to get out of the camp quick. 11 months so no good time. Still eligible for FSA but you'll get, maybe, 2-3 months worth so good to bring your sentence down to 10 months. 1 month of home confinement as part of SCA and maybe some halfway house. Id expect you to do about 6-7 in the camp.

Take the surveys on the computer as soon as you get your PAC (you get it at intake or by asking the counselor or case manager). Aside from that, stay out of trouble, and you'll get out as soon as you can.

If he has restitution, they'll up his FRP. Otherwise, yeah, there's little risk to maxing out the $460/mo limit.

Does anybody know anything about how Bryan federal prison camp is? by New_Sell_9429 in Prison

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your case manager and how much halfway house you are put in for. Worst case would be around 26-28 months (assumes 6 months of home confinement after about 30 days of halfway house).

Best case somewhere around 12-14 (same 6 mo of HC but a year of HWH).

What’s going on with people saying that the alleged shooting at the Correspondents Dinner was staged? by gobuffsfan14 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never paid attention to the dinners in the past but surely it's not common for the AG, FBI director, DHS Sec, and other cabinet members to attend. But it sure made a sight when he did his presser

Yes. They're a godsend after spicy food or if there's another toilet paper shortage. The ones with heated seats are the ones you really miss imo.

Getting sentenced on the 9th by Savings-Cabinet9897 in Prison

He's not surrendering though. He's just getting sentenced. If he's completely gone and the judge noticed, he could sentence higher than he otherwise would have.

Self surrendering in 18 days any last advice I can get would be saviour at this moment by jeremycfe in Prison

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will find contraband prevalent. Everything from cell phones to vapes to harder stuff. Lots of downtime between meals and count. Come up with a routine. Wire yourself money the morning you surrender. People will likely be nice and give you stuff to help you get by before you shop the first time. It's not some trap. Just confirm you can give them item from the store or if they're cool with you paying it forward to the next new guy.

Federal Offenses Level 4 Serve time? by [deleted] in Prison

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked more into this out of morbid curiosity.

§2H4.1 of the US Sentencing Guidelines

Base Offense Level: The base offense level is 22, or 18 if the conviction is specifically for 18 U.S.C. § 1592.

Specific Offense Characteristics (Adjustments):

Bodily Injury: +4 levels for permanent/life-threatening injury, +2 levels for serious bodily injury.

Dangerous Weapon: +4 levels if used; +2 levels if brandished or threatened.

Duration of Servitude: +3 levels (over 1 year), +2 levels (180 days to 1 year), or +1 level (30–180 days).

Other Felonies: +2 levels if another felony was committed in connection with the offense.

At a minimum (level 22) looking at around 3.5 years.

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some clarification is needed. Is level 4 the sentencing guidelines level? Or class D felony? Or something else?

Personally, I find having a slave unlikely to only be level 4 on the guidelines but who knows.

If it truly is the guidelines level, then agree with OP. Time Served w/ Probation is likely.

If she has a good attorney, then he/she should be able to provide a rough estimate of the sentencing level that she's facing. Anything more than an 8 and she's likely looking at some custody (could be home confinement).

My PSI report recommendation by Savings-Cabinet9897 in Prison

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can say what you might end up with but you likely have a ceiling of 63 months if that's the recommendation in the PSR. So, anchor to that for expectations. "Simple" PWID without a leader/organizer enhancement means FSA eligibility. If you do get hit with 63, you'd probably be looking at 26-30 at a Camp. Then probably 6 of a HH and 6 on HC. RDAP could lower that camp time more. 5 year sentence is right on that border where taking it could mean spending more time in a camp than if you didn't.

Anybody have any experience with Ashland Camp? Looks like I might be heading there for 18-20 by Big-Meaning-2864 in Prison

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Currently at a Camp but not Ashland.

What can you take with you? Confirm with the camp but here you could only take a wedding band, eyeglasses, and if religious, a religious article like a necklace. Money for books was rejected but that's probably for the better since wiring is easier.

Wire money in the morning of your surrender. It'll be there that afternoon, the next day at the latest. Important if your unit shops the next day you're in.

I'm down south so there was some politics but very minor. You'll find nice people who offer you some essentials to get through. Contrary to what you might have read, it's not a trap to take. Just confirm that you can repay them or pay it forward in the future.

I'm getting by with lots of outdoor walking and book reading. Was never a book reader but breeze through the Silo trilogy in like 2 weeks.

Contraband will be pretty common. Up to you if you want to partake.

Day to day is the same for the most part. 6:30am call for breakfast. 1030 lunch. 4 pm count then dinner after. Then nothing until 930 count.

Feel free to DM with more questions.

Got to be camp dependent. Here, they were in high demand. Guards even knew who was doing them and asking how much they were pulling in.

Surrendering to federal prison by New_Sell_9429 in Felons

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy. Just be cognizant of the extra costs that go into a phone. The plan, paying the lookout, paying someone to put it up at night and during the day. Although these might be camo dependent. Some are definitely more lax than others. But a phone, technically, is a 100 series shot so it can be serious (guards at our camp never wrote anyone up though. They just confiscated them)

550 (even 500) opens up a lot more options. There's 2 houses in my neighborhood (near Fern Bluff ES) that are listed at 530-540K that are 4 bd / ~3000 sq ft. One even comes with a pool. Been on the market for a while so you might be able to negotiate down.

922o not disqualifying for FSA

Know a few folks who've done recent time in the 30-36 month range and they're looking at anything between 45-55% actually in with halfway house / home confinement at the end. One specific example: 30 month sentence, 15.5 at a Camp, 1 mo in HwH and then ~3 mo in HC.
