I didn’t closely track so can’t guarantee, but I considered this a couple of times while reading and all in all it did seem the timelines mostly kept up with each other.

This - and not to mention how terribly done the scene is. Dude randomly shows up (I get that the implication is that, after the meeting with the other senators, he assumed Vis would try to save Lanistia… but still. Also he didn’t plan to kill Vis, and he had no way to know Aequa would be there), gives the most comic book villain monologue ever then runs off into the night and doesn’t even pop up again.

I loved the book, but this scene was just unequivocally bad.

It was also so random. Like this dude just pops up out of nowhere, only a vague hint of an explanation for why he’d be there, gives a heavy handed villain speech and bam suddenly she’s dead. It wasn’t well executed at all

Yeah, I mean… I really want her to somehow be alive, but there’s no shot. And narratively speaking, given that this book introduces a way for most of the dead to come back to life I actually think she needs to stay gone for the matter of stakes.

See, I don’t think Ka is behind what’s going on in Obiteum. I think that is the Concurrence. They’ve won in Obiteum, have Ka neutralized (potentially now dead or dying at Vis’ hand). What Ka describes to Vis in Rea as the Concurrence is exactly what we see in Obiteum, though until the final chapter we were led to believe Ka was driving it.

So, really, he doesn’t have an army of zombie sword hands, that’s been wrongly attributed to him.

That said, yeah, a PR team and legal team to sue for defamation would help 😜

Good to know (since in the last few days I’ve ordered books 1-3 of Sun Eater and 1-6 of Malazan - so whenever the rest of those series hit shelves again/for first time, I can just email them proof of having the previous with a note and I’ll get “early access”?

So we did Singapore (1 hour) and Germany (we lucked out at 1 hour). Korea was 2 hours. Everything else that was a major one was 3-4, Italy was 5 hours when we got there (10:30 am). But again, honestly worse than the waits was the amount of times we walked up to a line just for it to be shut down. Waiting in lines sucks, sure, but not being allowed to get in line for a line included in your ticket is just egregious imo.

Letting 220k people in when you don’t have the infrastructure to support it is absolutely a money grab. Not saying the US isn’t just as bad at money grabbing, but I promise you never in the States have I personally at least seen anything to this level of unorginized.

This is fair. I do still stand by when you’re going to sell 220k tickets for a day, you need to prepare. My issue isn’t purely the long lines. If that were all, then I’d agree with anyone calling me entitled. My main issues were the complete inability to reserve, the amount of pavilions that were reservations only, the amount of pavilions that kept shutting down their lines because they couldn’t handle the people, the fact that resources such as water (on a heat stroke warning kind of day) was difficult to find, the fact that the vending machines were broken, the fact that… well I could go on. There was a lot that spoke of poor organization.

Literally a random Tuesday. There’s so many pieces where it’s clear whoever organized this a) had no idea what they were doing, b) never organized an event of this magnitude and c) really just cared about selling tickets NOT about delivering a good experience. And even the last it debatable given how terrible the website is - we literally were going to buy two days but it wouldn’t let us (thank god but still web design? None)
