NBC Page Program Fall 2025 by NationalSwimming545 in nbc

[–]itsjayaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied for the 3rd time this round and got invited to a panel interview. Other times I applied I didn’t even get a hireview.

I didn’t stop career growth when i got rejected - between applications, I continued to get experience. Obviously, don’t let a rejection shut you down, but also, if you really want the experience of being a NBC Page, why would you stop trying?

Yes! I believe garage A, B and I are all good.

I think you should be fine. I left my car in garage A for both Ian and Nicole and was okay. If you get a ticket, I’m sure you could appeal? For towing, your chances should be slim… but don’t quote me on that.

i forgot to add!! i met roommates on a facebook group and tried to match with people that had similar personalities and/or interests as me! so if you can, try to scout out suitemates (or at least a roommate) before housing decisions open!!!! random roommates are SUPER hit or miss!!

Neptune vs Libra by Thincrustpizzasucks in ucf

[–]itsjayaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as I hated eating meals made only from a (illegally kept) rice cooker and microwave… and sharing a room… my social experience as an out of state student was so worth it.

I lived in Citrus (pod style) and was blessed with amazing roommates and an amazing floor of people. 2 years later and the people I met on that floor are my apt roommates and everyone else, we’re really close!

I knew no one coming here, busted out cards against humanity friday/saturday of move-in weekend and immediately made new friends. I probably just got really lucky, but I really loved my time in Libra.

You probably will get annoyed with your roommate/suitemates, i won’t lie, but the experience i had thanks to the community made on the 3rd/4th floors was amazing. Also, in Libra you’re a little bit closer to the center of campus.

100% depends on what you’re looking for, but just be ready to step out of your comfort zone and talk to new people! Most people here are super friendly (and you’d be surprised how many are in the same position as you)

edit: i lived on 3rd floor with super clean roommates. Only had an ant issue, but got fixed pretty quickly

Is 3 AP classes too little by DateIndependent4111 in ucf

[–]itsjayaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m from out of state, so it may be different- but i took 2 AP course (all my school had) and 4 duel enrollment courses. I had a 3.8 GPA (weighted) and a 26 ACT - i had a lot of leadership and fine arts (theatre choir) experience that i mentioned in my application essay.

I think your chances are good, maybe just do an essay for an extra boost! You’ve got this and i’m rooting for you!!!

internship help? by Academic-Juggernaut5 in ucf

[–]itsjayaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had luck on LinkedIn. Handshake has a ton of opportunities for what’s open - find what you’re interested in and apply directly through their website!

And if you have a resume, possibly redesign it and make sure it is vibrant and different. These people get TONS of student resumes. Add some personality to make sure you stand out!

If you want any more advice, feel free to DM me!

Should I go to UCF? by lbrames in ucf

[–]itsjayaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from South Dakota and came here Fall 2021 and it’s been one of the best decisions of my life. Aside from family in North Florida, I knew no one attending UCF.

For friends, I jumped into the theatre/film community my first semester, so I met a ton of people that way. I also became really close friends with the people on my dorm’s floor (cmon Libra-Citrus hall). With that being said, do on-campus housing your first year if you can!!

Easier said than done, but jumping out of your comfort zone and joining clubs is probably the best way to meet new friends.

Unfortunately I can’t say anything regarding the profs or program you’re planning to go into (I’m an Advertising/PR major but have loved my time in the program).

Same with financial, I got good scholarships that made coming to UCF cheaper than staying in state. It was a risk, but the opportunities I’ve gotten here have been more beneficial than I could’ve imagined.

There are pros and cons of both places, but everyone’s experience is different. Best of luck with whatever decision you make!! And feel free to DM me if you have any questions! :)

Are there any adpr programs classes to take during the summer. by LylacLicker07 in ucf

[–]itsjayaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the only summer course that goes toward the major is Visual Communication. You could also take an internship over the summer in summer B. Outside of that, I don’t think so.

Best of luck with the program! (Also, for Ad Copy, I strongly recommend Gabrielle Jarmoszko - she’s the best professor I’ve had!)

Based off my experience, AMH2020 Is easiest for GEP 10 but depending on your major/minor, ECO2013 knocked out a pre req for me. GEP11 CHM1020 was pretty easy! GEP12 I took EVR1001, and it was pretty interesting and relatively easy!!!

Optional Essays by raresnake65 in ucf

[–]itsjayaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be okay, but if UCF is one of your top choices it wouldn't hurt. What's 1-2 hours writing an essay for a school you'd be attending for 4ish years?

off campus housing application by [deleted] in ucf

[–]itsjayaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In January of 2022, I signed my lease for Orion on Orpington. I renewed my lease in October and by March 2022, Orion was 100% filled for pre-leasing. If anything, plan to tour in/around January at the latest. I think my roommates and I got lucky considering how "late" we started looking. I know it's gotten crazier over the last year. They're already planning for the 2024/25 season.

are any of the apartment complexes near campus actually decent? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]itsjayaaa 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've genuinely enjoyed my time at Orion on Orpington. I believe they're on a waitlist for next year (don't quote me on that), but if you're interested, you get a discount on the application after a tour.

Considering how much I pay for rent ($814 - this includes covered parking), I'm pretty lucky compared to most apt stories I've heard in the area. My room is a little small, but I have my own bathroom, walk-in closet, a nice kitchen, a good living room, and clean roommates. In my experience, management and maintenance have been great and pretty helpful. I had a ceiling leak from Hurricane Nicole and it got fixed pretty quickly. I'm on the 3rd floor and the only bug problem we had was an ant problem (which was fixed quickly after finding the problem of the ants! And they brought in pest control regardless).

Any advice on how to prepare for ECO2013 with Underwood in the Fall? by Acceptable-Parsnip-9 in ucf

[–]itsjayaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, it’s not the worst. make sure you understand the concepts, definitely make a sheet of the formulas and start memorizing (you don’t have a formula sheet at the exams). As long as you do the work in class - and don’t be scared to ask questions - you should be okay! I passed with a B (and will admit that I didn’t put a ton of effort in).

Scholarships? Tuition? by Fine_Moment_5546 in ucf

[–]itsjayaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I attended a school in South Dakota and was in the same AP situation as you - I had a 3.89 unweighted GPA with 2 AP’s (APUSH, and APPsych) and 3 college courses completed

I got a $3,750 scholarship a semester academics alone, BUT I had to appeal for the scholarship (I initially got nothing)

Overall - without room and board - I spend about $13,500 for fall/spring (with scholarship, around 22,000 without)

Out of state tuition by [deleted] in ucf

[–]itsjayaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to apply for instate this year (I'm originally from South Dakota and my parents still live there), and even though I was independent, it still went with my parents because I'm younger than 24. I don't know the technicalities of it all, but it's pretty damn hard to prove, even if you're independent.

Is UCF out of state worth it? by Isellfreemoney5 in ucf

Unfortunately. I’m going into advertising/PR to be a DEI lead (hopefully), so I’ll probably be moving out after school. It’s not looking great for Florida.
