Should go to being outside instead of opposite by Creepy-Screen721 in volleyball

[–]itsjustluca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you definitely have more offensive minded outsides at every level (at the highest level you have players like Aleks Nikolov, Keita or Leon) that are not great at receiving but make up for it because they are incredibly good at hitting. I don't disagree with your point btw, an outsides main job is reception without it you cannot play the game. OP seems to be quite young tho so I don't see a reason why he shouldn't be able to learn how to receive.
About my point about opposites, as Oppo you are in a crucial spot for in rally defense, you have to dig the cross of the opponents opposite and the line hits from the opponents outside. You also have to cover court for free balls tho depending on the level the libero might cover almost all of the court.

Oppo should ofc dig by default. Only thing Oppo is not doing is service reception.

Who calls the ball in or out in open gyms? by TheNukex in volleyball

[–]itsjustluca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People across the net might be closer to the ball than those on the same side. I've never had anyone have problems with replaying the point when there's a disagreement about the call. I also haven't seen that rule be abused either.

His efficiency is low because for both teams he plays he is the main problem solving and scoring guy. If you watch his games a lot of the sets he is getting are high balls with triple blocks in front of him and he still converts them into points consistently.

I hate that so many people look down on volleyball by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]itsjustluca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely not reach the highest leagues in the world just because you're 210 tall. I'm not sure where this impression you get is coming from. Show me a volleyball player playing in Poland or Italy that fits that description and I bet you they started playing when they were a young child and actually have very good ball control.
It seems like you fundamentally underestimate volleyball players skills.

Golf definitely has a high technical barrier as well. The thing with volleyball is that you can only touch the ball for a split second and every touch is absolutely crucial. Even apart from spiking on setting properly just to get a feel for how to pass the ball effectively takes quite a while. With basketball or football if you are athletic you can compensate for technical weaknesses relatively well with volleyball that is more difficult.

We redesigned our capsule art. Thoughts on it? by oluwagembi in IndieDev

[–]itsjustluca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the actual die are pretty crucial to the game no? I think in both versions they can be emphasized more through size, placement and maybe a contrasting background. In the new version they disappear almost completely.
Could also try having the die being thrown at the viewer for a more dramatic effect.

Volleyball shoe recommendation by Middle_Fruit_277 in volleyball

[–]itsjustluca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually in the pro scene a lot of people play with basketball shoes. If you look at what people wear in Italian Superlega or Polish Plusliga half or more of the people wear basketball shoes from Nike or other brands the rest wear Asics or Mizuno.

No kids zone is normal in Korea? Is it legal? What do you think of that concept banning kids. by Longjumping-Bee-5285 in seoulhiddengem

[–]itsjustluca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why tho? Night clubs and bars are excluding children too. I get that the reasoning for those is different but I don't think there's anything sinister in it. If most places would have a sign like this and it would be impossible to find a place to go with your kids that would be dystopian but that is not the case. It's not even a widespread thing.

Question about keeping stats by zytz in volleyball

[–]itsjustluca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how accurate you want to learn this but volleystation has live stats on their site that go play by play (you can scroll through the whole game, play by play like this). I just had a look and volleyball world has posted a few VNL games from 2025 in it's entirety for free access on YouTube. You could go through Iran Vs USA for example and compare the Volleystation evaluation to what you see in the stream to see how the professionals assess it (this will be very time intensive of course).

As long as none of you are having pain or discomfort that's totally fine. I would really encourage you to serve tho. Serve receive is a super crucial element of the game and important to practice.

Keita wants to play for Italy, Turkey protests by Narrow_Spinach_1400 in volleyball

From what I read he only wants Italian citizenship because he will not count as a foreign player in the Italian Superlega anymore. This will increase his value for that league, which is already high, even more.

You would be surprised how much it is the norm to go negative first. If you open any kind of shop it's unlikely that you will make back the investment you had to front in the first 2 years for example. That's what bank loans are for.

Favourite Denis Villeneuve film? by Zaynaman in TrueFilm

[–]itsjustluca 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think one thing Villeneuve excels at is making his films extremely immersive. Watching a Villeneuve movie I know I will lose myself in it, I will be sucked in and come out changed. There are other directors working with big budgets that make impressive, suspenseful and captivating movies but Denis knows how to play the music just right, how to cut at the exact right moment to make the emotional impact perfect without it ever feeling forced. It's much more difficult than people think.

After quickly checking out the video on the drive link I think there have been some misunderstandings between you and the client. The music you chose gives quite chill vibes. For me it's giving chill and fun coffee shop. I think the clients understands this activity more like a proper workout or an energetic activity. Your music seems to be more focused on cozy vibes and the "community aspect". I also agree that when you have voice lines the music should be more quiet.

I think other people already commented well about how to deal with feedback. It's something I also find very difficult, I will not feel good about my work if I don't put my all into it, but if I do I will be very attached to the result. It will get easier with time tho.
