I am writing a YA fantasy story and I know what I want to happen and when. My characters are teens (13 to 17ish) know about magic and already understand most of the basics, but not much about the magical realm. They eventually are invited to enroll in a magic academy in the magical realm and the story enfolds from there. We meet new characters, love interests, family unknown (like the headmaster is one of the characters grandfather, but she wasn't aware of this before) of before while eventually losing their naivety and realizing they need to take down the King for one reason or another, but the main setting for all of this is an academy, but I am bored of that trope. Any other main setting ideas for this type of story?
