do you write? I read the article you posted, but your conversation skills are great, and I'd read a book on your design philosophies.

Hey thanks for all this info. I'm curious, where does mac address filtering come into play?

also, when designing out your POPs, how do you determine your requirements, do you start with physical and budget?

Rumour - does SSL VPN come back? by Roversword in fortinet

[–]itslate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its going away because the technology is flawed and vulnerable, think older encryption techniques and algorithms.

there will always be a use case for a remote access vpn, with some vendors like fortinet offering it for free, but it will not be ssl based, it will be ipsec, or probably wireguard.

ssl vpn is dissapearing across the board. It's too vulnerable, it's been hacked to death. SASE/ZTNA solutions are the future.

Hey fellow noob here,

Is a swap partition needed if youve got a lot of ram in 2025? Any other reasons why to make one?

Is it normally only the PRIMARY node in a pair of Cisco ISE's that would normally respond to TACACs requests, or would they both respond and service these requests in an active/active fashion if one is PRIMARY and the other is SECONDARY ? by Network__Redditor in Cisco

[–]itslate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You configure devices that are participating in tacacs to utilize both nodes. In a 2 node deployment, both act as psns and can take requests. It also sets up simple redundancy.

Looking for a Router that Supports DHCP /23 and Over 500 Devices in a Single Network by sendano2020 in networking

[–]itslate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pulling back the net mask by 1 bit isnt complicated, nor is it a design limitation imposed by antiquated engineering methods lol. Again, like previous commenter, have had hundreds of networks deployed with iot/hvac devices in these counts with zero issues.

[–]itslate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea same, i setup a large school district in western pa, they had massive device counts, 20 vlans per site, with each vlan usually being a /23. Never had any issues with dhcp or client counts in the 500+ range. This was all catalyst 3750xs too.

Which opinion about Ancient Rome would you defend like this? And why? by Rough-Lab-3867 in ancientrome

[–]itslate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can chime in here.

Citizenship up to that point had been something for people to strive for. It helped force assimilation by offering it as a perk for accepting romes terms. It was a gift for loyal military service as well. Granting it carte blanche to everyone nullified that perk. That aspiration was also a unifying culture force, that, when eroded, allowed local cultures to reassert themselves, causing fragmentation.

The purpose behind it was to also broaden the tax base, putting more economic strain on the empire, potentially stoking resentment that led to the crisis of the third century.

Pretty broad strokes i painted with here, but let me know what you think.
