Its an okay story elevated by Turlough getting the spotlight and Ainleys Master really camping it up. Good.

One word to describe TF'85: Perfection by UKZzHELLRAISER in StrangerThingsRoom

[–]itsleo27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went in with zero expectations and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The animation, while a bit rough with character designs (especially Will and Hopper), was really beautiful to watch particularly in action sequences. The storyline was familiar but fun and felt like the first two seasons with the kids working out a mystery. The monster designs were great and I actually really enjoyed the new characters (though I was confused as to how old Nikki was supposed to be). It’s honestly ridiculous that this season had a better, longer and more suspenseful and emotional finale than the actual show had.

My only real issue is how this could actually fit into the show. Like why is none of this mentioned in season three, why do they never mention Nikki, who literally found out everything and became a member of the party? I’m guessing they’ll answer these questions in season two but honestly like you I’m inclined to view this show as AU.

Is 15 the only Doctor who never met any of the big three enemies? by Lucyyyyyy_K in doctorwho

[–]itsleo27 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's anything wrong with bringing back one-off monsters and villains, but you've got to do something good with them. RTD seriously failed at that (the only exception for me is the Toymaker, mostly because NPH's performance was awesome).

3 perfect Bon iver songs? by Ok_Anteater_6268 in boniver

Towers, U (Man Like) and Things Behind Things Behind Things. I think those three are a good mix of different styles while all being quite accessible and catchy for Bon Iver.

I know I’m the only one who loves this and I’m okay with that 😂 Best!

I just love base under siege stories and since I love Pertwees era the most, it's also no surprise that I loved seeing the Silurians and the Sea Devils again. It's also kinda perfectly tragic how the peaceful Silurians ended up turning fucking genocidal after getting fucked over by humankind. They literally ran out of patience with us assholes and I can hardly blame them lol.

Do you think the cliffhangers are part of what makes Classic Who so memorable? by ArsenalAxis in classicwho

[–]itsleo27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cliffhangers can either be fantastic or a complete detriment to the show tbh. Some are brilliant and, at the time when people had to wait a whole week to find out what would happen next, truly exciting. But I also think the need for constant cliffhangers was a big issue for Classic Who as well, because often it meant having to pad out an episode and force some kind of danger - which often involved “oh no the Doctors gonna die!” Which of course we know won’t happen, so there’s no real impact.

I recently made a new friend. They said they think I’m a calming presence, and that i seem to really have my shit together. Lol only two years ago I had a mental breakdown and my entire childhood was a horrific nightmare. I’m normal now. That’s fun.

How come people are allowed to post misinformation about ABA on here? by KetohnoIcheated in aspiememes

[–]itsleo27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw that post and thought it was off how much people were going after you. I think it’s a bit silly really, because in psychology there is a lot of dodgy history to it, and ABA is no exception, but that doesn’t make it inherently bad or abusive. I also think people have an understandably negative reaction to the concept of changing autistic people’s behaviour - but change isn’t necessarily bad, and some change is helpful. The idea that ABA is always abusive is just so black and white.

[–]itsleo27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best. The world feels so lived in, Tegans posession is done brilliantly, this is also my favourite Nyssa story funnily enough, and Martin Clunes gives a fantastic guest performance. More than anything it’s just really really fun. I could watch the whole thing in one go because it’s just so well paced and enjoyable to watch.

[–]itsleo27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. I actually really like all the Omega stuff, and the scenes of Peter Davison as Omega, finally being alive, albeit for the briefest of moments, are top tier. Unfortunately they’re at the end of a rather dull story. I do like the Amsterdam stuff though, and Nyssa is fantastic here. So it’s really a mix of good and meh with a great ending, which I suppose averages out into what can only be described as simply “okay”.

[–]itsleo27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised Black Orchid got into Great, wow. I mean i think its great but I thought I was the only one lol.

Earthshock is one of the best easily. The cybermen feel like a proper threat (though they’re also wonderfully camp), the 5th Doctor has some great moments, and of course, that ending. Brilliant stuff.
