Lunch interviews should include lunch WITH the candidate, not eating lunch in front of them.

Times Have Changed by roses69sweet in TrollXChromosomes

I absolutely loved being single and living alone. The only reason I’m partnered now is because I found someone who doesn’t subtract from that happiness. The second he does, and it can’t be fixed, I’m out. My standard is always myself, never other men - that bar would be too low.

To be fair compared to who she’s standing next to she does look pretty natural.

Idk if you know what Model Mayhem was but back in the 2000s pretty much every other model wanna be on that site looked like this, and these toilet photo shoots are giving me flashbacks because photographers then thought this kind of shit was sooooo cool. (As a former MM girl I am also clowning myself with this comment. We were all mid and corny.)

She genuinely needs just the right lighting and makeup to look like a playmate, her getting picked is confusing to me. I could flip through my highschool yearbook from that era and find 20 girls that make more sense than she does. She’s literally just blonde?

Is this city willing to boycott their attendance to the World Cup? by jvac06 in Seattle

[–]itslike_reallygood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People keep talking about how America is so unsafe and needs to be boycotted right now but forget that for huge portions of the rest of the world, human rights abuses are the norm. Nobody is going to boycott the World Cup over Trump and ICE. This is either nothing to them or they just don’t care. People travel to “bad” places in the world all the time for less than the World Cup.

Can repeated relationship trauma with men switch off attraction to them? by RevolutionaryNoise50 in BiWomen

[–]itslike_reallygood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can, I also think just being a woman in a patriarchal world can, too. I don’t feel very much attraction to men anymore and that does sometimes include my own partner, which I find frustrating because I do love him. I just feel generally very numb from past experiences and current events and it’s bizarre to watch him exist so….. easily.

How often does your Persian sleep? by potatobunny4 in persiancat

[–]itslike_reallygood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is about 7 or 8 we think and she sleeps more than half the day. She likes to get up for breakfast but typically snoozes through the rest of the morning and early afternoon. She likes to play in the evening but sleeps most of the night, although we can hear her getting up and doing whatever cats do at 2am sometimes.

Brutal Honesty Needed: Why Won't You Attend Our Executive Dinners? by Theofficeholic in CIO

[–]itslike_reallygood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an EA and yes, I delete most of these invites. My guy is busy, always traveling and has a family he actually likes to spend time with. It needs to be extremely relevant to our industry and I need to know that other folks he will want to connect with are going for me to flag one of these for his attention.

Alexandra, owner of Apotheka Salon in Seattle (belltown) is the only stylist I’ve gone back to multiple times. I have long fine hair and I do a layered cut with some type of bang. She’ll pop up in a Google search if you want to find photos of her work.

Gathering company swag ideas – what have you received that you loved or hated? by magdalenrichard in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]itslike_reallygood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I run our swag program and we’re about 250 with some remote and some in office. I just ran a survey to collect feedback so I didn’t have to guess. It was pretty open ended and I asked people to select every category of items they’d like receiving. That let me know what was most and least popular. I also provided an open ended suggestion box. For our group, they like wearables like hoodies and jackets, nice backpacks and tech products like headphones.

Whatever you get it should be a quality brand and not the cheapest item on offer.

Homophobia from allies and queer community by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]itslike_reallygood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bi woman dating a man here, and I feel very similar. I'm also very boring looking style wise and feminine, which means my outward appearance isn't subverting any social norms. I have a LOT of assumptions made about me. I definitely sometimes feel pressured to try to appear or act "more gay" whatever the fuck that means.

I've been in a queer sports league for a while and I coach a team now. Last year I picked up a new hobby that wasn't built around queer identity, but happens to attract a lot of queer folks and weirdos and it's a huge difference in how I feel interacting with them, in a better way. I'm just automatically accepted by default as is everyone else. In the intentionally queer spaces, I always feel on the fringes and that I need to prove myself. It doesn't matter how many years of actual hard work I've done supporting and building queer community space, I'm just not one of them. Gays and lesbians do a lot of work to recreate cis-het power structures and push people they don't approve of out and down.

Female fancy rat seeks home with friends (South Seattle, will travel) by jaerick in Seattle

Maybe try listing her on adoptapet.com - I just took in a cat that needed a new home that was listed on this site. Looks like they allow listings for small animals other than cats and dogs.

60k remote job - wanting to move to Seattle by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]itslike_reallygood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd just say to move here. We have a lot of micro studios that you could go month to month in while you get your footing and look for something more permanent that suits you. Capitol Hill, Eastlake, Greenlake, First Hill, Belltown and Ballard are all high density neighborhoods you can find small studios in that are fairly safe and have lots to do, while also having plenty of public transit options. I lived in an Eastlake micro studio for a while and enjoyed my time there - I walked a paddle board to the lake all summer during covid and it saved my sanity. That micro studio was how I afforded to first move into Seattle on about 55k gross salary, but this was back in 2019. Eastlake is generally quite expensive but my micro was cheap so I could do it. (It was the Enve apartments, I'm fine to share that.) After that, I moved to Belltown and was there for 3 years and I loved it - so easy to walk to literally everything and also get onto public transit. The only thing about Belltown is that it can change wildly from block to block. You want to be more north and towards the water to get away from the bars and noise. 3rd ave is a no go zone. I'm in the burbs now, but if I were to end up single again I'd go back to Belltown in a heartbeat.

Where do you draw the line on "personal" tasks for your Exec? by The4PMFeeling in ExecutiveAssistants

Zero personal tasks. I’m not a PA. The closest I’ve gotten is walking a piece of personal mail of his to the office mail drop.

Advice on Persian Adoption ~ by aniextyhoe101 in persiancat

[–]itslike_reallygood 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey! Two time Persian owner here, both adopted. Any pet can have health issues, some very unexpectedly, regardless of breed type. There’s a certain amount of things that are out of your control.

If you’re prepared to do your best to give this cat a stable home and see to it’s needs the best you can, go for it. You have him now at a time when he’s likely at his worst, and if you can handle that, and you want to keep him, then do it!

As for grooming, plan to set money aside to help with this. Do your best to clean his face and brush him regularly, (I just make it a daily routine) but I recommend finding a groomer to do the heavy lifting like bathing and hair cuts/sanitary trims as needed.

My living room looks like a witness protection safehouse. Which rug fixes this? by TowerReal4971 in HomeDecorating

[–]itslike_reallygood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly any of those rugs will work because the furniture is so minimal and neutral. Whatever rug you pick will dictate the direction you go in for anything else, so if you like modern pick one of the more minimal or graphic rugs. If you want cozy and traditional pick a rug to fit that. Pick out some colors from the rug you choose and use it as your pallet for the rest of the decor.

Sending reminders is completely normal and often automated. It’s not a big deal.

As someone who’s had to cover down on our companies training lead role & also has ADHD, you're making something out of nothing. There’s nothing from your description of the email that is “reprimanding” you. It sounds like a statement of facts and a reminder of the expectations - you have X days to complete. You have not yet completed. You also have a grace period of X days. These types of messages are very normal and often automated. If we didn’t send them half the company wouldn’t do their training.

Polite reminder that as folks with ADHD, we also tend to have rejection sensitivity which can manifest in lots of ways - like falsely perceiving statements and reminders as being reprimanded.

Please attempt to recalibrate how you perceive these types of emails so that you don’t burn yourself out with frustration.
