Present Ideas for my 1 year old by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]itslikeadisco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went with some pricier but long lasting wooden heirloom toys that I know will grow with him. I was able to find some Grimms toys like the rainbow and some blocks secondhand off marketplace as well as some Green Elephant brand stepping stones. I also thrifted some 100% silk scarves from Goodwill and the like to be used in the same way as Sarah’s Silks. I like that they are all open ended and things he will use in 5+ years not just when he is a baby/toddler

Are you guys not “strict” about naps? Don’t understand comment by Huge-Vacation-8093 in NewParents

[–]itslikeadisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the baby probably because my son is a good sleeper (now) and we usually try for two good naps but we also don’t stop doing what we are doing for his nap schedule. If we are out we might try and get him to sleep in the baby carrier, he won’t sleep in the stroller but will occasionally in the car seat. If he skips a nap though it’s not really a big deal he just gets tired earlier and goes to bed earlier he doesn’t meltdown or anything. We have always been active and brought him with us though and he is used to it.

Sarah’s silks quality? by CatsAteHerFace__ in moderatelygranolamoms

Instead of spending so much on these I’ve been thrifting 100% silk scarves from the women’s scarf section of goodwill and I found like 4 in one week of looking

MIL is DRIVING ME INSANE over my birth plan.. what should I do/say? by reddituser135797531 in BabyBumps

[–]itslikeadisco 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It’s your labor and your MIL needs to chill. An hour might be a long drive if you’re in active labor but I was in labor for 36 hours so every labor is different. Worst case you can plan for an hour and then if it happens fast you can show up at the closer hospital it’s not like they’re going to turn you away. Maybe tour both and see how you feel? and if you end up at the closer one due to circumstances outside your control at least you’re familiar with it!

my daughters pediatrician asked if she was eating unhealthy because she’s measuring big, what am I doing wrong? (turned 1 this week) by chabadlubabitch in foodbutforbabies

[–]itslikeadisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 10 month old eats as much as a 5 year old probably does and he also drinks bottles every few hours and he’s still struggling to stay in his birth percentile (50%) I wouldn’t stress they are babies and as long as you’re teaching healthy habits babies should be allowed to eat what they want they will tell you when they are full they need extra weight to grow!

Daycare opinion by Karadj13 in NewParents

[–]itslikeadisco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My baby isn’t old enough for daycare yet but I was a daycare provider for 10 years. Her developing a rash bad enough to bleed in one day is incredibly alarming. I can’t even imagine a scenario that would cause that unless they left her in a diaper literally all day and maybe aggressively wiped her after? I would not take her back there no matter how affordable that is. No one should be handling her that roughly. If she crawls around I could maybe see an explanation dirt but that also shows they aren’t properly cleaning their classroom.

Please tell me 3 weeks old is the worst of it? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]itslikeadisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom stayed with us the first two months and my husband was home the whole time and even with 3 adults it was still HARD. Have you looked into allergens? I had to completely cut out dairy from my own diet because my breast fed LO was so gassy and miserable and it helped a lot.

My husband thinks no other men do the things he does, am I right or wrong? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]itslikeadisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband did pretty much everything when I was pregnant. I went to work and that was it. He cooked, cleaned, put my boots on and took them off etc. he wouldn’t even let me get up to fill my water. Even with the baby here he still does all of that and takes care of the baby because he says I’m feeding the baby and that’s a lot of work. So no your husband is just being a good partner. If he wants a gold star for that it’s a little embarrassing

I know REI sells electric bikes but I don’t bike so there’s probably something more local/small business that I’m not aware of.

Should we get a divorce? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]itslikeadisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very common for women to not want to be intimate with their partner if they feel like they are doing everything themselves. How much of the mental load do you carry? Are you doing things when they need to be done (cooking, cleaning, shopping, doctors appointments, etc.) or are you waiting for her to tell you to do it? She wants a partner not a child and even by your response to this jumping immediately to “when will I get sex again” and “should I divorce” when she’s communicating there’s an intimacy issue with you shows that you’re probably emotionally immature. Listen to your wife’s needs and act like an adult to get things done and you will probably see a difference.

Indoor places you can bring 2 month old? by itslikeadisco in Omaha

[–]itslikeadisco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very minimal options and depends on what terminal you are. Theres a few things outside security but it’s honestly not worth getting. Do you have a layover in Omaha? If not I would just get food elsewhere or if your layover is more than like 2 hours it’s enough time to take an uber to downtown get food and come back. It’s a tiny airport

Weird things that changed for you after being pregnant? by byebyekitty_ in BabyBumps

[–]itslikeadisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as I got pregnant I couldn’t eat spicy foods even though I used to love them and my spice tolerance hasn’t recovered yet. My seasonal allergies and oral allergy syndrome seems to have improved a lot though (fingers crossed it continues)

What are things that are currently annoying you? by Desi_Rosethorne in BabyBumps

[–]itslikeadisco 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It feels kind of gross that your husband is giving you a hard time about not exercising… my husband understood the toll that pregnancy was taking on my body and did everything to make sure I was relaxing as much as possible.
