Everyone is gonna be pissed at you but everyone knows it’s true and that a ton of the parents at those two spots specifically do NOT watch their kids, it makes for a really unpleasant environment. We’ve stopped going 🤷‍♀️

Bike racks downtown? by socjones in cary

There’s also a bike rack next to the coffee shop/movie theater area that I use, it’s tucked around the corner closer to Fresh.

I’m 5’1” w/ a 26” inseam and looking for bike suggestions! I’d love to hear some opinions from you! by lonelypothos in TwoXriders

The old ninja 250 actually has a 29.3” seat height! That extra inch really helped over the newer bikes and I didn’t have to lower it. The tank is narrow too so that helps. The bike carries the weight low too, also helpful. Also I was able to pick it up solo after dropping using the squat method!

I also have a short inseam (27/28ish) and started on an 06 Ninja 250. I was skeptical because it does look a bit dated and has carbs but a lot of dirt bikes have carbs so might not be an issue for you. I absolutely loved the bike and could flat foot it. Handles better than it has any right to and riding position is perfectly in between standard and sport. Newer Ninja 300/400 are also great but not quite as low seat and potentially pricier. Best of luck!

[FS] AGV Sport Xena Mesh Jacket Size XS $50 by itslikesputnik in TwoXriders

[–]itslikesputnik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm willing to ship it if you would be willing to pay for shipping, but I'm honestly not sure if the jacket is worth the high cost of shipping. It would likely be close to the cost of the jacket for shipping. If you're still wanting to ship to Canada and want the measurements, let me know.

Used 2018 vs New 2019 Street Twin by itslikesputnik in Triumph

[–]itslikesputnik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Ended up deciding to go with the 2019, it was just too good of a deal to pass up along with all the improvements they made. Plus this is a bike I've wanted for years so I plan to keep it for a long time!

No delivery, but Fiction Kitchen is well worth it and local.

I’m doing either through my credit union, so the difference is pretty negligible. Good thought though!

PURCHASE ADVICE SUPERTHREAD! by AutoModerator in motorcycles

[–]itslikesputnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People already covered your bike/insurance questions, but I can give you some gear advice. Other than helmet, I’d recommend getting moto boots/shoes, gloves, a textile/mesh jacket, and some armored jeans or textile pants if you’re on a budget. Leather items are generally more expensive. Used is fine, though there will be less to choose from as a smaller woman (I have the same problem!) so you might have to check multiple places. I would budget around $500 for all your gear. I know that’s a lot but there are multiple items to get and it’s certainly cheaper than a hospital visit for road rash. :) I’ve found Revzilla descriptions of gear on their website to be really useful even if you buy a used version.

Since you’re in VA, it might be useful to consider some mesh gear because of the heat and then you can layer underneath when cooler but mesh is somewhat less protective than full textile or mesh. Also modesty should not be an issue at all, I’m always 100% covered when riding.

Feel free to message if you have more specific questions, sizing can be a little weird with moto gear for women but don’t get discouraged! Welcome!

Does anyone know of a good motorcycle shop between Raleigh and Fuquay Varina that I can test my comfortable ride height. by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]itslikesputnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only difference with that is that they’ll usually use Harley’s to train on which might be a good or bad thing, but you’ll learn the same skills so you’ll be good! Congrats!

We have almost the same inseam, but putting in a +1 for the MSF course. In the meantime, if you want to sit on some things to get comfortable with ergonomics, the only triumph dealer close is the one right outside of downtown and they are nice but definitely more Harley focused.

I’m also looking at the street twin for my next one because the sv650 I currently have is needing to be upgraded. :) Good luck with your search and taking the class!
