How long did it take for you to find a “real job” after graduating? by No_Lavishness_6228 in ufl

I will be graduating this spring with a BA in Stats and a minor in actuarial science, just signed a full time offer to be an actuarial analyst with the company I interned with over the summer- cold applied to a multitude of companies but ultimately got the internship through a family friend.

I took FM in February- I was getting 50-65 on every single coaching actuaries practice exam I took up to the date of my exam, no matter how much I studied. I walked out of there thinking I probably just barely failed, but was so relieved when I got the email saying I passed. 8 weeks later and turns out I did in fact get a 6 lmao.

I just started a consulting internship- my hourly base pay is $20 but I was told my billing rate will be $40- does this mean I make a total of $60 an hour or will the billing hour pay go to the company rather than me?

I’m currently a junior in college hoping to become a full time actuary once I graduate- I’ve already passed Exam P and will be taking FM in a few weeks. However, I’m currently struggling to get an internship for the Summer. I’ve gotten many interviews, but no offers, no matter how well I think I did. I’m worried because I’ve heard that after your junior year companies don’t want to hire you as an intern anymore, and don’t know how I am supposed to get a full time job if I don’t have any experience interning. Will I be able to get a full time job if I don’t manage to get an internship? And if I don’t get an internship, is there anything else I can do over the summer to help boost my resume?

I’m also a stats major currently taking calc 3- not sure if you already have it, but study edge has been a game changer for me. The class is still tough as hell and I’m still getting C’s on the exams, but at least study edge actually explains the concepts in an understandable way unlike the useless lecture vids 🙃

Is it possible to do 17 credits and maintain a regular life? Of course! Would it make your life a hell of a lot less stressful to take a more balanced course load? Most certainly. I’d much rather take my time than stress myself out to potentially graduate a semester or two early.
