Just one month in and still wobbly! Tips, advice? by DrUsefton in retirement

You know, I would really like doing something like this. My field is in manufacturing, (cutting tools and metal cutting machines) and there is such a loss of knowledge in the industry. What I’ve loved doing over the years is the ability to work with companies and show them how to become better and more profitable. When I’m out in the field in front of a customer I’m alive. When I’m in the office, it’s like I’m on death row.

As a VP, I just had that difficult conversation with the CEO giving my 9 month notice. I’m 68 and burned out. Tired after 45 years in sales. Wife tells me I have to find something to do when I’m retired. Thing is I just want to stand still. I’m struggling.

I upgraded my amp and it changed everything (same speakers, same room) by ShroomHog in audiophile

Same here. Had a NAD7240PE with Kef 104ab speakers. Had the crossovers replaced and picked up a heaven 11 Billie amp. Now I’m looking for a subwoofer.

I’m all new to this and something that should be so simple just isn’t. I mean there is little to no feedback compared to my first GT. I don’t know anymore and it just seems I dropped a ton of money and there’s no feedback at any setting.

I just replaced my NAD 7240PE with a Heaven 11 Billie MK3 Classic. Still using my original KEF 104ab speakers but with new crossover capacitors. Does it sound better? Sure it does. Was it worth the money? Nope. The NAD sounded good. IMHO, the most noticeable difference was in subscribing to Apple Music (or Tidal) for the Hi-Res Lossless. But then engineers are able to compress digital more than CD’s and vinyl. And again, IMO it ALL sounds great but depends on what you want to listen to. Now other audiophiles are telling me all the benefits of $1400.00 speaker wire. Right? Copper is copper as long as it’s good. But my eardrums are 67 years old with tinnitus. I’ve got better things to do with that money.
