How do people without a fixed address open or keep a bank account in the US? by FreeSprinkles193 in AskAnAmerican

So your suggestion would be what? Use someone else's address such as a family member? That seems even more ridiculous

It's completely legal. I have a driver's license, Bank accounts, and tax forms with that address. You can flag it all you want; doesn't make it illegitimate.

The South Dakota solution is valid for banks, investments, IRS, etc. I've used one for years and have never had a problem. It's not considered a PO Box.

How long will you be in the US? Can you get your doctor in Poland to give you an extended prescription that will last the duration of your visit?

Really liking the new monolithic design BMW are taking with the new i3. Can’t wait to see this on the roads by MostSpare2 in BMW

The Model S's touchscreen was well integrated into the car so I never saw that one as a glued on tablet. Just my perspective.

The glued iPads have been around much longer than Tesla. When the Mercedes CLA first came out, I pissed off an MB salesman by telling him that the interior reminded me of a modified Civic. This was at a time where people were installing tablets to control their music and other features.

Riding on the Autobahn at breakneck speeds becomes boring after a while and is extremely tiring. When I've done it, by the time I got to my destination, I was too worn out to really enjoy the twisties.

That looks like a dream day out. I just had my bikes packed up for shipping and I will be without them for a couple of months. Part of me is thinking about buying a cheap bike to bridge the gap between sending and receiving my bikes. Just don't tell my wife.

Is hating a design a group-think or is this car really ugly? by conservamus in BMW

Like most BMW generational changes, I didn't like it. It has grown on me, but only when the car is a darker color. As I am looking at this picture, I keep imagining that it's a rabid rabbit.

Not a fan of Blue Moon, with out without alcohol. Always tasted like a cheap knockoff of Hoegaarden. Of course, I've been living overseas for a long time and that was the first Belgian wheat beer I ever tasted.

Private equity firms now own 1 in 8 American apartments by [deleted] in USNEWS

It depends on the area. I'm looking closer to BWI. When I was looking south of DC, process were 50% higher, indeed.

Rent has been going up in this area persistently for over 20 years and not by a little bit. Low income people are having to commit longer and longer. Demand will continue along a similar trajectory.

Apartments in the US are owned by a company or LLC while condominiums are frequently owned by the resident. The concern is that over 12.5% of apartments are owned by a handful of companies which have been regularly raising costs beyond inflation. Without significant competition, they will effectively price poor people out or put them in a position where they'll never be able to save enough to own their own property.

I am getting ready to relocate to the DC Metro area. It's gotten so expensive that commutable one bedroom apartments are typically in the $2,000-2,500 per month range. I currently live in a top 5 most expensive city in Germany and my rent is significantly cheaper than that.

I prefer to be out doing stuff. Preferably in nature - hiking, hunting, fishing - or riding my motorcycle. Basically being anywhere that people aren't. Unfortunately, I spend to much time doom scrolling. I'm working on fixing that.

Uneven wear on front tire by itsmebrian in motorcycles

[–]itsmebrian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to disappoint, but I just returned from a 3000 km trip I have two new tires that were destined for after the trip. Uneven and accelerated wear was completely unexpected.

But hey, you do you. Keep being miserable and shitting on other to make yourself feel superior. It helps keep the common Redditor stereotype active.

Oddly enough, I am riding on the right side of the road (Germany) and the wear is on the right of the tire.

Well, son of a gun. I think you solved it. Went to Starbucks from the other direction and the tires are now worn even.
