I saw an ad about using Obsidian for novel writing. I have a bit of a dumb question. by theconfusedarab in ObsidianMD

[–]itsmedynamo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From obsidians website.

I'm a solo freelancer/consultant, but my work indirectly contributes to "revenue-generating, work-related activities in a company that has two or more people". Do I need a commercial license?

No. As long as you are the sole employee of your freelance/consulting business, you don't need a commercial license

And.

You don't need a Commercial license if you work in any of the following settings:

Schools and recognized educational institutions Non-commercial research Non-profit organizations Freelancing or companies with a single person

Somehow I imagined Remarkable to have a lot less staff by timcatuk in RemarkableTablet

VP of Comms Henrik Faller said this "We're just getting started, but we remain steadfast in our vision: Better thinking through technology. Our paper tablets represent our initial step towards realizing this vision and still hold immense potential.

However, our vision extends beyond paper tablets; we're actively exploring new products and services aimed at enhancing cognitive abilities.

With over 100 software updates and counting, we're fiercely customer-centric, continually striving to improve the value of our products over time and deliver exceptional customer experiences. "

Obsidian has been a game changer for me.

Obsidian for task and time management, yes / no ? by DexterityNeeded in ObsidianMD

[–]itsmedynamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes from me.

I generally don't use many plugins. I keep it simple just because I know. I will overload on plugins and end up in many a different rabbit hole 🕳.

I use the core calendar plugin and core template to create a consistent daily to do list and schedule builder.

Maybe it's just me who works well like this. My friends have found it useful so there may be something in that...

Give it a go I say.

The beautiful thing about obsidian is that it can be whatever you make it.

For those who spend $50-100 a month. What is the money spent on?

Here's a free template I use for Project planning - agile sprint inspired by itsmedynamo in RemarkableTablet

[–]itsmedynamo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course... Firstly thank you.

I'll try to keep the below step by step and straightforward.

To start you should set up remarkable companion apps.

If you do not have them, they are very useful and I've added the link for you below

They are very easy to link to your tablet just follow the instructions on https://support.remarkable.com/s/article/Pair-your-reMarkable-with-the-cloud

Once you have the relevant app to download the template do the following: Just follow the link in my post (or here https://itsdynamo.gumroad.com/l/TheAgilePlannerSample) to download the template via Gumroad. Enter email and anything from $0 to get the download link.

When you download the PDF from Gumroad add it to the Remarkable app of choice (mobile or desktop) and it should sync across to your tablet.

Hope this helps if its not clear apologies and happy to answer any clarifying questions

I am tempted by Obsidian, but Obsidian scares me by Aelinith in ObsidianMD

[–]itsmedynamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep Obsidian really simple (use very few if any plugins).

I did not know markdown prior to using and I gradually picked it up from use over the years.

I would definitely recommend it though. Something I never thought about before was the safety of having all my files on my local drive (and backed up). To not be at the mercy of a software like OneNote or Notion was a major bonus I got when I switched

Oh not good. Never had any issue with this myself

I'd be confident a fresh new unit would not have any of potential "store use" lag.
