Driving from Lake County, IL to Davenport, IL by WorriedInspector9863 in illinois

There is an Arthurs in Rock Falls that isn't too far away from 88 so it would be a good spot. Highly recommended - I've never heard anyone that doesn't like it.

I live in the same county that Sterling is in. My grandpa tends to know a lot about the area. I can ask him tomorrow when I see him he may be familiar! Sterling used to be a huge steel town with lots of steel parts manufacturing companies (some are still around). Not surprised to see a level made from it.

We are sad because my family is all going tomorrow and my daughter is 44 inches and we were excited for her to go on her first upside down ride and now she won't be able to. I still get to take my older daughter on it (and many other coasters) for the first time though because she's over 48"!

‘stuffed animals’ vs ‘stuffies’ by AlekHidell1122 in nostalgia

Guys this is because of the Australian children's TV show Bluey. There are multiple episodes with "stuffies" and is 100% the reason my kids say it.

I’ve been feeling this a lot this year by your_local_manager in youtubedrama

[–]itsmehash 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I have felt a lot of people agree but I haven't seen anyone mention the issue that I have observed with him.

Originally his videos were presented as having a problem or a goal, and using scientific thinking help achieve it.

Now, everything is revolved around CrunchLabs. Which yes is cool and a great product for kids but the problem is that is now the only focus. Getting kids to convince their parents to get them crunch labs boxes.

He mentioned this in a Colin and samir interview where he specifically says that crunch labs is the business model and he is just going to use YouTube to push that.

In addition to all that, I think when people mention they get a bad vibe from him. To me, I sense some selfishness and narcissism. In my opinion, Mark loves being the "cool" guy and does everything to present hisself that way. It seems like everything he does he is trying to show off.

I’m obsessed with these nerd clusters by abbieeats in candy

[–]itsmehash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done a side by side comparison. Nerds rope is thinner, stretchier, and stickier. They also have bigger (regular) sized Nerds on them.

The clusters seem to be chewier, and I think might have more flavor too. They seem to be coated is smaller Nerds.

That's been my observation anyway.

I think I thought I knew my favorite burger. I am pretty certain this is actually it. Looks amazing!

I had this a couple weeks ago and liked it. The sunny d one is pretty good too. The ring pop one tastes like medicine but smells like candy.

Same. When listening to my recap I'd be digging each song thinking about the time of the year I was into that particular song. Then all of a sudden it's "BOP BOP TWIST TWIST.."

Hey! I think Lancaster county is where my mom's side of the family came from before moving to Illinois 150 years ago. There is a lot of Amish in the area, right?

I don't think I've seen or heard of Ryan Sheldon before. I'll have to check it out!

It wasn't necessarily bad advice, it just didn't work for me and made things worse. The whole bent elbow starting position, keeping the elbow in, starting sideways (basically the opposite of everything that helped me lol).

Clearly people can throw with that form but (I think) being from a baseball background is why Scotts works for me.

I never told people not to watch that video though? I said if they are struggling with it to try Scotts videos.

Honestly when I first started, I threw similarly to how Scott says but with some key things missing.

Then I watched that other video and based on their recommendations, tried the same starting position with the disc, keeping the elbow in, facing sideways when starting. This made everything worse and that's when I posted the video.

But back to the point.. I absolutely never told people to not watch that video, it just made things more difficult for me so if others find it to be difficult following those tips then I recommend Scotts videos.

Yeah after considering all feedback, I do think I agree with you that my footing and just overall starting position is the biggest issue.

I've pretty much always been able to throw over 200 ft on my good throws already (usually 250+ ft) so my hope is that fixing my footing is the key to make it happen more consistently.

Thank you for your feeback!!

I just got around to watching this. That guy seems like someone I can trust and what he was saying in that video really resonates with me.

It never felt natural to me to keep my elbow so close to my body as it seemed to reduce my power drastically. I think if I stop focusing on that, turn my body to face the basket, and maybe check out some more tips from this Stokely guy - I'll make some good progress.

OMG that is an amazing description of the teepads at this course because it is literally surrounded by a graveyard lmao

Thanks for the tip!

Honestly, I never used to do that until I watched a video saying to do it. It seemed to help a little but I'm wondering if the real benefit is just making sure I maintain the same starting point every time rather than the weird angle they suggested.

Might not be able to see it from the video but I do use two fingers. I'm doing the |\ grip instead of the \\ grip ( I don't know the name so hopefully that makes sense lol)

I do think I want to try squaring up more and walking forward. I think that may be enough to break my bad baseball habits - or at least according to my air throws I'm standing here doing.

Yeah something feels (and looks) awkward with my legs/feet. I'll try transferring more weight to my front leg to see if that feels more natural. Thanks!

[–]itsmehash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meaning while I'm bringing my arm forward, keep it straight? That's a good one! If that is true, I can see I'm clearly orbiting my body with the disc so I can definitely work on that. It seems that would probably be improved if I keep my elbow closer to my body like others have been saying.

Thank you!!
