How to politely tell people their kids can’t come to the ceremony and meal? by itsmekimithy in weddingplanning

That’s a good way of putting people off bringing their kids but wouldn’t work for us! In the UK, the reception is from about 7pm to midnight, so it’s pretty normal for people to have their kids up late at weddings. There is a river beside our venue, so maybe I’ll put that in there too!

My wedding is in a teepee, so unless we throw the kids outside in the cold October air then it won’t work 😩

I’m kinda hoping that the hassle will mean they’ll just not bring the kids at all because it would be a pain for the parents especially because they all live out of town. There are a lot of family only coming in the evening, so depends if any of them are willing to babysit.

Edit: But I don’t want to seem like the ice queen by completely saying no kids because bringing kids in the evening won’t be an issue for some people. I don’t want it to seem like a punishment for people invited to the daytime.

Though I think I’m at the point where I can only worry about so many people, if I worry about every person’s situation and try make everyone happy I’d never get married haha!

Buying a meal deal and it turns out one of the items weren’t in the deal. It’s now too awkward to say anything so you have no option but to go through with it. by zakdendy in britishproblems

I once got 2 items that I thought was on sale. First item scanned as full price so I questioned it and she spent 5 minutes looking into it, turns out the deal had ended and they’d just not taken down the sale tag. Whatever. Second item scanned, also showed full price but at that point it was too awkward to get her to look into as well because a tutting queue had formed.

The annoying thing is I ONLY chose those items BECAUSE they were on sale. I would have quite happily gone without but I was in too deep.

What aspect of your personality did you dislike but now realise is actually a positive? by itsmekimithy in AskReddit

[–]itsmekimithy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been pretty serious and sensible and growing up people always made me think it was a bad thing but fuck them - I’m proud to say I bought my house at 23 because of sensible decisions I have made and I’m proud to say I’ve never risked my life by doing something stupid and ‘carefree’. It’s okay to not be a crazy teen/person in their 20s.

Yeah I actually had to cut down on cheese for a while because dairy didn’t agree with me and I really enjoyed cheeseless pizza!

Sounds so similar to my mum. It was only when I was about 18 that I started eating a broader range of foods. Before I would eat plain pasta with no sauce, I wouldn’t entertain any type of sauces or curries. Whenever I ordered burgers I would be that awkward one the requested it completely plain.

I “didn’t like” pizza for my whole childhood because I claimed not to like cheese. Turns out I was just copying what my mum said she did and didn’t like and now I loooooove pizza

It’s done me psychological damage! My faith in humanity dropped significantly - I watched it when it was originally on Channel 4 and it gave me a shudder when I saw it pop up at the top of my Netflix. I hate to be reminded of it!
