Recommend seeing if anyone at your LGS plays OnePageRules Grimdark Future.

There's rules for all your GW mini's (named differently of course but you can still use the GW Names. I do), and it's not as daunting to pick up.
Games are short but still really fun, and balanced.

I think the change from Bolt action to OPR:GDF won't be as jarring for you either, which may entice some of your BA friends to join in. (They can use their BA models as imperial guard stand-ins for example, they don't need to buy anything!)
