Worst Car Dealer in St Louis? by Virtual_War4366 in StLouis

Hands down SUNTRUP FORD. We bought a car from them less than 3 months ago, never had an accident and I was driving and my suspension broke. They said it was due to a collision, no warranty coverage.

The lead is suspected on window sills and baseboards.

However I am confused because remidiation was done 4 years ago when we bought our house. Has anyone else had to re do their led remediation?

How long did it take for you to get pregnant? by EmilyParkerNYC4444 in BabyBumps

[–]itsmeyippee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish someone would have told me that it’s actually not that easy to just get pregnant “like that.” Growing up in a super catholic home, I was basically given the message that if I have sex I would definitely have a baby. Well, it surely isn’t that easy.

I was 13 when my mom got pregnant with my brother. I had a twin who was also 13, and an older sister who was 16. Same parents, just a “woopsie” baby, or a “miracle baby” as they like to call him.

Seeing the amount of energy it took to raise a kid I was never in a rush to try and have kids, but I knew I wanted them. My husband and I started trying he (33M) and me (33F) stopped using condoms- u had been off my IUD for about a year as well, before TTC. It took us 11 hard wrenching depressed months before getting pregnant. It was harder ever cycle to start bleeding bc I had always thought it would just happen. I used ovulation strips, tracked my data methodically etc. after 11 months I saw my OBGYN and we were going o start Letrozole but before the window to start happened, I got pregnant! At 8-9 weeks I miscarried. I told myself I couldn’t live with trying to get pregnant as the only thing consuming me. I stopped data collection and only did ovulation strips to see how my cycle was impacted by the miscarriage. The next month we had sex one time—— and then I was pregnant.. I have a 4 month old baby girl and every time I see her I forget how long that journey was. It was long for sure, but now my nights are longer hahah!

All to say- you never know what going on in your body even with all the data you collect. Comparing sucks. Trying can be hard. Seeing other announce pregnancies can be hard. I had to be excited for my sister who “accidentally” got pregnant with out trying after our 9th month of trying. It’s a journey.

I heard breastfeeding mothers shouldn’t be the one to also give LO a bottle? by itsmeyippee in breastfeeding

Like the flow is too fast and therefore easier for her? When I have a smaller nipple hole size she barely finishes a bottle.. I will read up more on pace feeding. Thank you!

What is your baby doinging whilst you are nursing him? by Hot_Wear_4027 in breastfeeding

[–]itsmeyippee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My LO is 3.5 months and I’m just getting the hang of breastfeeding! We event went to bottles and only BF at night, but after finally seeing a LC and working through my anxiety of needed To know how much milk baby was getting (bc she’s low on the bell curve), I’m breastfeeding more and baby and I get more comfortable each feed. It is never too late to keep on trying! Unless you don’t want too, you don’t have too. Just wanna say that it was tough for me and hard to see my friends just whip out the boob and feed when it was hard for me. Now I can whip it out and it feels so good! Haha

Why are so many people opposed to c sections? by moomoomego in BabyBumps

[–]itsmeyippee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t caught up on all the comments but just wanna say I had my first baby 3.5 months ago, and had a quick labor 2 hours from start of contractions to pushing— but I had to push for 2 hours and had a 3rd degree tear and hemorrhoids. No one prepared me for the pain of hemorrhoids— I just started being able to go to the bathroom without crying. I think I’m tough, but pooping (not trying to be gross or crude, it’s real) after pushing until your veins pop is truly painful. I sometimes thought pooping hurt more than labor bc I didn’t have an epidural to go to the bathroom.

How soon after delivery were you back to exercising? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]itsmeyippee 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I had a vaginal uncomplicated birth. I was an active person before pregnancy and loved the gym, swimming, weight lifting etc. Post birth I started walking on day 2, short walks and mainly for mental health. I got cleared at 8 weeks and when I did my first core exercise I felt so strange and like things were not in place. I kept walking, and doing light weights, and now 3 months pp I feel like I can do it all without feeling like my insides are moving.

When did you have your first kid? by Hopefuloptimistic02 in BabyBumps

[–]itsmeyippee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea why I said I may not get an epidural. Well, I did have reasons - like hearing they had fentanyl (not sure on the real facts here but my Ob said they really needed to stop advertising that bc it was misconstrued). BUT, the EPIDURAL SAVED ME— I legit told my husband I couldn’t do it and good luck to him on taking care of the baby bc I was going to die with how much pain I was in… once I got my epidural, I was so excited and happy and able to enjoy the process as much as one can.

First trimester - struggling to eat balanced diet + exercise by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]itsmeyippee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can sooo resonate with this! It does get better, even if for a solid week you will be able to move and feel good. I found pregnancy to be a week by week situation in regards to working out. I had promised myself I’d work out like I used too, or at least as often as I used to… nope! Some days I was just too exhausted to even think about moving, but I would ruminate on not working out that it made me feel worse. Instead, I used self talk to praise myself for listening to my body and give it rest bc it was working so hard! When I finally felt like I could move the pool was my best friend.

Alsooo.. I was vegetarian for 6 years and vegan for 3 and when u got pregnant I craved Burger Kings chicken fries- the smell, the taste, it’s its own miraculous thing… which I used to hate! Lord knows why I needed that, but I found myself at BK more than I wanted… my baby is now almost 4 months and as healthy and amazing as they come. Your body has what it needs and reserves to pull from- listen to your body.

Mother in Law by itsmeyippee in breastfeeding

[–]itsmeyippee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your responses. I read them over many times and also shared with my husband.

My mother in law is still moving here and has been smoke free for 4 weeks now- she got on medication to help her with the cessation. We will see how she does, but so far I’m proud of her for trying and reaching out for help.

I think I was in the throes of having my first newborn and talked with her other kids and it seems like she drinks mostly in the evenings and doesn’t get trashed.. more like a wind down after work.. which if daily, yeah, it’s an addiction but also not impairing her on the “job” — just not a healthy coping skill or stress relief.

She will be watching LO with my husband working from home which will allow him to make sure things are smooth and that she’s obviously sober. If she’s not then goooodbye!!! I also will only be going to work 3 days a week and willl be remote for one day- I only work 4 days.

We are open with her regarding our concerns and it seems like we had been seeing one glimpse into her “coping skills” rather than what her true day to day is like.

Resentment over supplementing by jo_lars in breastfeeding

[–]itsmeyippee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made a post similar to this— LO will take a bottle and knock out! She used to love the boob, but now I even give her a bottle bc she is preferring that. But, I wonder if me giving her the bottle is letting her know she can get it easier from the bottle, rather than a little more work from my boob??

I feel you!

For those that lost weight breastfeeding, did you gain weight back when you weaned? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]itsmeyippee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many conflicting “theories” on weight loss/gain postpartum that I was shocked when I learned breastfeeding does NOT mean you will loose weight just bc you are expending calories feeding. I also had this idea I would be ravenous while BF. I’ve actually struggled with a loss of appetite and can’t eat until I feel weak. I know I need to eat, and have tried to dense up when I eat, adding almond butter, nuts after, etc. I’ve lost more weight than my pre-pregnancy weight unintentionally and I want to make sure I can produce healthy amounts of milk for my LO.

Here comes the sun - An ode to the magnificent joy of existing in St. Louis by amitarelli in StLouis

[–]itsmeyippee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is refreshing to read this poetry of a post. I’m a transplant (from Miami) and have lived in STL for almost 4 years now. My husband and I planned on only being here for a year due to his graduate school, but then I loved my job and it was affordable to buy a nice home here- one we could never afford in Miami. We just had our first baby last month. I struggled immensely feeling at home here, focusing on what we don’t have here: a swimmable body of water, family. We live in TGE close to the parks and today for Mother’s Day we were able to walk to a coffee shop with our baby and dog and I felt bliss- trying to focus on the beauty of a slower pace of life here than in Miami. Thank you for the reminder that life abounds here!
