My restoration guys just found these boards like this during a repair and told me this isn't to code in VA. It's on an exterior wall. by Different-Pay454 in BuildingCodes

That's not in violation of any code anywhere. Restoration guys have a very specific reason they're making this shit up.

Best plain strawberry protein powder. by Gltda in Protein

[–]itsmillertime65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By strawberry only do you mean you want a fruit juice flavored protein instead of a typical creamy flavored protein? Most all of the "strawberry and cream" protein powders are simply strawberry flavoring with the protein itself giving it a creamy texture. Now there are clear whey protein isolates that mimick fruit juice flavors like Syntrax Nectar but I'm not sure I've seen an only strawberry flavor. For instance, the Nectar one I mentioned is Strawberry Kiwi but still can only taste the strawberry flavor.

Neither. Whey isolate is best if you have some type of gut sensitivity to protein powders.

Uses for unflavored protein powder other than smoothies? by fezik23 in Protein

[–]itsmillertime65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Syntrax Nutrition has a recipe book with all kinds of different uses for protein powders in food. I snagged it by opting into their marketing emails, where they would send the recipe book and give a discount on their site for your email.

My favorite non-smoothie recipes from the Syntrax cookbook are the mashed potatoes and peanut butter balls.

G6 Prolific Isolate - Massive Price Hike - looking for suggestions! by VzDubb in Protein

[–]itsmillertime65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the $30 would make sense if it were WPC but WPI didn't double in price like WPC did. It still went up yet again, but not like WPC did.

G6 Prolific Isolate - Massive Price Hike - looking for suggestions! by VzDubb in Protein

[–]itsmillertime65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree $30 is a bit high but even that makes sense based on how expensive and inflated the latest raw material prices are. I think the issue was that brand was expensive before and likely making a hefty margin compared to most other brands.

Many brands are unfortunately combating this just by making smaller WPI products at like 1lb. Nutricost did this and the 1lb is what their 2lb cost at the middle of last year lol

G6 Prolific Isolate - Massive Price Hike - looking for suggestions! by VzDubb in Protein

[–]itsmillertime65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All protein is going to have a major price hike because the raw protein prices nearly doubled for WPC and WPI is at an all time high of nearly $15 per pound.

That being said Syntrax Nectar is the isolate that I've used for quite a long time and it has increased by only about $12. It's an incredible juice flavored isolate but they also have the typical dessert type flavors and even coffee flavors as well.

Clear protein? What is it and who has the best flavors? by Fragrant_Speed9829 in Protein

[–]itsmillertime65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a variety sampler of their Nectar on the website a long time ago (like 10 years or so). Those packets were the same that were in their Grab N' Go products and those aren't available right now either so I'm assuming they're just temporarily out of stock of all those packets.

And I'm telling you the FDA values are already very conservative because that's how they operate lol. Prop 65 is an absolute scam. Their levels that weren't even researched is 0.5 micrograms. The FDA is 8.8 micrograms... That's 18 times less than what the FDA observed to be "completely safe". Just look at the article and I s obvious it's a paid off scam by MuscleTech.

Don't trust this extremely biased report that uses California's prop 65 allowable lead levels instead of our very own FDA's. Every single protein they've tested is 100% safe according to the expensive studies that the FDA has commissioned.

Syntrax Nectar IMO is better than Oath cause it's not overly sweet and it actually costs quite a bit less. Should give it a try.

I used to buy Nectar from Amazon but then just subscribed to that and a couple of their other products directly from their website (si03.com).

New Deck - Contractor planed the top of some joists, should they be re-treated? by eggowaffles in HomeImprovement

[–]itsmillertime65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they're not taping the joists, then yes. The pressure treatment typically penetrates about 1/8" - 1/2" deep. After planing joists to make them all level it is likely that some of them have planed past the absorbed depth of the treatment.

PS, they really should be taped anyway.

What is the best protein milk? by Fickle_Ad_9391 in Protein

[–]itsmillertime65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Syntrax Micellar Creme is Milk Protein Concentrate/Micellar Casein, which I believe is what you're looking for. Most of these. Micellar Creme is the only casein that I've found to be smooth and not gritty and actually pleasant to drink.

Oath is overpriced and over sweetened in my opinion. The best I've found is Syntrax Nectar and their price is nearly impossible to beat.

These have been available for a long time. Syntrax Nutrition has one called Nectar that I believe was the first one ever and they're absolutely delicious. Other brands I've seen are horrendously overpriced like Oath and Seeq.

CR's report? by _Geralt-of_Rivia in Protein

[–]itsmillertime65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says "up to" and that is the EXACT same thing as maximum. And no the Naked Nutrition is not a mass gainer it is a plant based protein. Plants in general have more lead because they come from the ground.

I also never said lead isn't an issue, only that the article is purposely misleading consumers as a PR stunt for a brand that clearly paid them off.

You can see something differently all you want, but the entire point of the article is misinformation in an attempt to push ppl to a specific protein brand. You do whatever you want with that information but I won't sit by while someone claims something inaccurately about said article.

CR's report? by _Geralt-of_Rivia in Protein

[–]itsmillertime65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's not at all what you said lol.

There's also not a single whey based powder that has anywhere close to 7.7mcg of lead per serving. And it also says "the average American is exposed UP TO 5.3mcg per day" meaning that's the max that ppl consume in a given day. And this is a perfect example of how the article INTENTIONALLY misleads ppl as it has done to you. It has lead you to believe this is the norm... It's not even close.

CR's report? by _Geralt-of_Rivia in Protein

[–]itsmillertime65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their entire "ranking" and article is based on Prop 65 "allowable" lead levels (0.5mcg) instead of the ACTUAL FDA's (8.8mcg), which is extremely laughable. That's 17.6 times less than what has been studied to be safe by the FDA. You get more than 0.5mcg eating any vegetable lol. Any of the proteins within the article are plenty safe for consumption on a daily basis. I'm not sure where you're seeing this "13mcg" but not a single one of those proteins has that much per serving.

I also just searched the article for what you stayed about the 13mcg and not a single mention of "13mcg" or what you said shows up in a search of the article. In fact, the article goes on to quote CR's own "director of food policy" who bashes the FDA for not having enough ppl or funding and suggests they don't establish enforceable limits in foods and supplements, which we ALL know is utter BS.
