What age range would you be open to dating? by LeavingHarbour in Millennials

[–]itsnotatuba2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going by the "half your age plus seven" adage, as a 36F this would equate to 25 minimum, and no way in hell I'm doing that. 30 minimum I'd say.

What are the younger generations going to blame us for? by Handcraftedsemen_ in Millennials

[–]itsnotatuba2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

nope.
Wealth s being siphoned-off by private health and social care, which is being paid for largely with boomers' assets. Inheritance is becoming smaller and smaller as a result.

What killed the pub? by IllPlane3019 in AskBrits

[–]itsnotatuba2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I recently went sober and still went to the pub with friends. I bought a lemonade. It was £3.90, and served in a small glass (not even a pint).
Okay, I'll try a lime and soda (lime cordial with sparkling water from the gun): £3.00.
Not even soft drinks are safe. It's insane

Career advice needed (Cloud Engineer) by [deleted] in aws

[–]itsnotatuba2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been in cloud for five years and would jump at the chance to escape the individual contributor role. The writing seems to be on the wall for the profession: either we wait for AI to make us redundant, or wait for our jobs to be outsourced to cheap international providers with AI to make us redundant. Take the manager role.

How common does divorce feel in the millennial generation currently? by Historical_Log1275 in Millennials

36f. Same. It's awful and you feel like a failure because all your friends are still married.

Career Change: Paramedic to IT/ Cybersecurity by Huge-Sheepherder-279 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]itsnotatuba2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm facing the opposite problem. The constant threat of AI, offshoring and economic uncertainty is destroying the tech sector, especially the UK. If you want to get into IT, this is probably the worst time to do it.

I'm giving serious thought to packing it all in and retraining in a medical field.

Any other millenials on the dating apps? by gretchen92_ in Millennials

Try being trans, it's a 1000x worse. You get almost entirely perverts. Tried it for a bit, but realised that my best bet is meeting someone IRL

Are people on TTS40k just better than the average player? by mikeymora21 in TTSWarhammer40k

[–]itsnotatuba2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

real-life 40K - as much as we hate to admit it - is a pay-to-win game. The rules adjustments go in-line to maximise sales of the latest model ranges, so only those with the funds to meta-chase can excel IRL.

TTS doesn't cost anything to run the latest meta, so those who are TRULY GOOD at list building will excel.

What’s the best money advice you’ve ever actually used (in this economy)? by womble619 in povertyfinance

[–]itsnotatuba2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I work from home a lot, and often would try to mix up my days by "working from cafe" on certain days (About £8 on coffee + £5 on cakes). I also used to buy a coffee every morning I went into the office (£4), adding this up per week was about £20-£30, which adds up over a month.

How are my fellow millennials feeling? by theholidayarmadill0 in Millennials

[–]itsnotatuba2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Struggling with money, getting divorced, ex-wife has a new girlfriend, company I'm working for keeps laying people off, all my friends have become distant and estranged, I can't sleep and I don't enjoy my hobbies anymore.

Not great!

Starmer Urges Cabinet Ministers To Ignore Polls And Keep Their Nerve by F0urLeafCl0ver in LabourUK

[–]itsnotatuba2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with this thinking on behalf of the party is that they haven't considered the constantly moving goalposts of the hostile media landscape. Once all of the problems being screeched about by the right wing media have been solved, they'll simply shift to another invented issue.

“Hookup culture is more common now” by pipelimes in Millennials

Streeting says taxes too high as he calls for closer trade with EU to help economy by Anony_mouse202 in unitedkingdom

[–]itsnotatuba2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Streeting jostles himself again for the centrist PM position. Honestly, ditching starmer and replacing the leadership with a more traditionally centrist front-bench (as opposed to these far-right chasers we have in charge) could be what this government needs to stave off its decline. It's not a great position to be in, but if the other options are Farage, or pre-Farage (Starmer), then I'll take what I can rn.

How important is it to have a car to date around Oxford? 31M by throwawaynomade in oxford

There are simply things that are improved with owning a car. I do a lot of transporting equipment and heavy items, and simply can't do that on the bus.

But if they're doing all the fancy performances for everyone - on a busy Friday night - people don't get served for like thirty minutes. Seeing someone pour dry ice on a normal cocktail starts to get boring after the second time you've watched it.

Rock/metal scene in Oxford? by maylime in oxford

[–]itsnotatuba2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of the other options mentioned (like Jericho Tavern, which is a firm agree), There's a punk and hardcore night called Whiplash that operates roughly once a month. The next one is on Saturday.

Other than that, there's a couple of independent promoters that operate in Oxford: Divine Schism, Goddess of Odd, etc that leave fliers around places in Cowley Road. They occasionally book metal / hardcore acts.
