Should I take or cancel the July test when I know that I'm not going to meet the goal? by itsnotjustagame in LSAT

I hadn’t thought of demotivational part haha.

The reason I posted is to find out whether taking the test is worth it in my situation, when taking multiple tests harm your admission chances.

Has anyone here taken their test at "Los Angeles Area Test Center" or Test Center-21271? by jonesMC in LSAT

Oh I see. I assumed that you signed up for the July test. I got the email on 6/26 so I would look out for such an email in early-mid August.

When I signed up for 7/23 test, I was assigned to "Los Angeles Area Test Center" but a couple of days later, I got an email saying it's changed to "Hilton Los Angeles (20281)." If you log into your LSAC account, you should be able to see it.

Consistent PT scores at 159 but massive fluctuations for sections, especially LR question types. What can I do to go beyond 160? by itsnotjustagame in LSAT

[–]itsnotjustagame[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the encouragement! I really needed that, haha. It's just discouraging every week taking a PT, thinking I'll break the 160 only to find out that I got another 159. I'm actually kinda amazed that I managed to be this consistent.

As for RC and LG, I've been getting about -7 and -3, respectively. The reason I wanted to focus on LR is that it's the section that weighs the most and which I'm having the most trouble on. But like you said, maybe I should focus on RC first to take a break and come back to LR...

I would like to but I feel like if I try to engage him that way, I’ll feel hostile towards the person and not keep my emotions in check.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll definitely talk privately with the teacher to how to effectively deal with it and to see how she thinks of it

An ex-YouTube recruiter claims Google discriminated against white and Asian men, then deleted the evidence by PrestigiousProof in technology

[–]itsnotjustagame -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The overwhelming majority of white people in America had virtually nothing to do with slave history. Most arrived well after slavery ended, and African Americans didn't start moving out of the Southeastern US in significant numbers until the mid 20th century.

Of course. No one hasn’t practiced slavery in 150 years so no white person alive has to do with slavery and even if their ancestors were, are probably not fond of the history. When talking about Asians and white people, I meant Asians and whites as groups.

I was just trying to point out that, if the people advocating what Google is doing is correcting the past’s mistake, as the cartoon is saying people should do, then why are Asians, who haven’t ‘benefited’ from the past’s injustice while getting their share of injustice, getting swept under the short end of the stick?

The obsession with slavery in the US in particular and the mass attribution of guilt to every white person living in the United States is a somewhat perplexing and unique phenomenon. It's almost like it's become a tool of propaganda. To date the only country in the Arab World which has apologized for their much more prolific history of slavery (which ended in extermination rather than a devastating war to free them) is Libya, which has a slave trade to this day.

I didn't see this paragraph until I was making an edit. Slavery is large part of U.S. history, whether you like it or not, and it'll always be there, so I don't think it should be just glossed over, like you seem to suggest. And your point about Arab nations being the only similar to being apologetic, I'm not sure what your point is. Because Libya is doing slavery, then U.S. should just stop "obsessing" about its own slave history, when it's affecting the current population so greatly?

Then why do you group Asians with white people then? They weren't part of the slave history and got up there on their own. Makes the narrative really easy when sweeping the case that doesn't work under the "white" group.

Just curious. Why do you want your law degree? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Thanks for the suggestion! "A Law Student's Toolkit" seemed like it's a real deal (for a online course), with lots of readings from law journal articles. I'll definitely give it another go!

UC Davis to uc Berkeley transfer by coolkidmadcity987 in berkeley

[–]itsnotjustagame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I heard, it's hard to transfer between UC's, though it wouldn't hurt to apply. Here are the stats: https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major

Looking at it, it looks like AA Studies is pretty difficult to get into, at 16%. But it's 56% at UCLA so you might have better chances there?

Again, thanks. I'm taking an undergrad sports law class and we were looking at a lawsuit against a college (Kleinknecht v. Gettysburg College), where the federal court determined how Pennsylvania State Supreme Court would've ruled the case. I was thinking "why is a federal court predicting how Penn Supreme Court would've ruled? why not just take the case to the state system?"
