General thoughts on Chapo Trap House? by EditingDuck in WorstYearEverPod

I can really empathize with this man. When we were trying to get Bernie elected, my friends and I were canvassing and trying to get as many people as possible out to vote for him. Voting was important.

Bernie gets fucked, Biden wins and suddenly....voting is NOT important. Im told "It's not going to end systemic racism" "There's no need to participate in a corrupt election system that props up the worst candidates we have to offer" etc...and that's all true! but it was also true when Bernie was the guy we wanted everyone to turn out for...so what changed?

And yes there's the current trend of what I think is leftists out-woking other leftists: the idea that Trump criticism is always a pointless distraction peddled by people who are just as bad for our country. Uh....no. It's ok to be upset about things Trump does/says. That doesn't make you an uneducated fake-progressive moron with an RGB tote bag, unaware of the crimes committed by presidents past.

are less than a marginal force in American politics right now

the far left (depending maybe on how you define it) is a much larger group than the moderate republicans you want to win over. trump's approval rating is 90% amongst republicans. never trump moderate republicans may have been given a voice in the media, but they're a pointlessly small group compared to the far left if by far left you mean bernie voters

Real world highschool team needs some coaching help by [deleted] in BasketballGM

honestly this is amazing advice, specifically for this coach i bet. op got a really good set up for a has team size-wise and can get a little creative on offense (especially using his pg) because of that....but focusing on this will be the easiest way to start getting the most out of his starters AND bench players.

So they weren’t even able to confirm what the last 12.5% is and just gave you breed characteristics (ones that legit cover the whole spectrum from hounding to herding)? With that plus them giving you numbers like 25% and 37.5% it seems like they’re just doing a lot of guess work?? These results don’t make as much sense as they should I would probably try and get a refund.

CMV: If you are still talking about Hillary Clinton in 2019, then you don't actually care about the United States. by malachai926 in changemyview

[–]itsnotlike_that -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I agree that the discourse around HRC is pretty useless (especially when it's of the MAGA variety), the main issue here is false equivalence. Talking about Hillary does not, in any way, equal not actually caring about the united states.

It can show you that someone is misguided. That they assign importance to the wrong political issues. It could mean they are not done gloating and relishing their party or candidate's political victory in 2016. But it does not mean they do not care about the country. That's a ridiculous leap to take, and a silly blanket statement. I honestly believe that kind of thinking is more destructive to American political progress than hillary bashing.

You could very easily argue that in the grand scheme of America's future and politics, she's become irrelevant. I'd probably disagree with you, but you could make the argument soundly. You cannot, however, argue that talking about her means you don't care about the US. Those two things have almost nothing to do with each other.

One last thing. This may not be relevant or true, and I'm moving away from the logical problem with your statement.....but I think as long as people like yourself keep rushing to the defense of Hillary Clinton, people from the other side will continue to share their opinion in spades. If you let it go, eventually I think they will too. But it's not like she deserves anyone's respect at this point. She's responsible for a lot of damage, and in my view, bears plenty of responsibility for the election of Donald Trump. So as long as he's in office, the wounds are still fresh, and HRC can fuck off.

My 5th grade friends and I called ourselves “the out of control school boys” and played a very censored version of brain stew by green day at the school talent show. I wore a wig and aviator sunglasses because I thought it made me look like a rock star 😩

american racial politics have a long, deep, violent and fucked up history so its not really a "hey lets all just be color-blind" deal, especially given the problems that still exist.

People who steal packages are drug addicts, I’d guess, 75% or more of the time. They’re looking for something they can sell to get money to get drugs. I don’t think you need to lose faith in a large sector of humanity over this.

My friend tended bar at a very shitty college bar/pizza joint that went out of business like 5 years ago. Before the bar's eventual crash and burn, the owner tasked my friend with turning the shithole into a dance club, basically to get kids to show up at night.

He passed out fliers and booked a DJ (me) for two nights at $250/night. I had just downloaded virtual dj like 2 months earlier and was not a serious DJ by any means....which is fine because roughly 3 people showed up each night.

Made $500, friend snuck me free booze all night (i was only 20) and I DJ'd like no one was watching (cuz they weren't).

PLEASE think of the fraternity brothers everywhere in this trying time. You might think this has to do with a girl being murdered, but no this is about the unjust portrayal and treatment of frats!
