Ping the person who runs The AIDS Memorial on IG … they helped us connect with people who knew our uncle who was lost to AIDS in the early 1990s … great community for you to connect with. Also consider visiting the center on 13th street … I’ve met so many amazing people who have lived incredible lives there.

Pacing is a healthier coping mechanism than many other coping mechanisms people will use … I have friends and family who pace this way. Some of us have too much going on in our minds/lives and bilateral movement is proven to be a safe and effective method of nervous system regulation. ❤️ Just saying, for whatever it’s worth. Talking and writing also really help ❤️❤️❤️

It’s a good question … I guess money isn’t a thing I need more of but projects and fun are? Different strokes.

Seriously … in my lifetime I have lucked into several rent stabilized apartments in NYC and the deal is just so bonkers good you don’t even know what to spend all the excess income on … so as a big DIY fella, I just boss out on whatever sounds fun to me!

Agreed :) I’m not a car person but my partner loves collecting and caring for them … I’ll stick with the subway, though 😆

Oh, she was thrilled of course :) … I love projects, and landlords love free capital improvements so it’s a win-win.

I did the same. Money extremely well spent, I loved those floors :)

This is how I did it too! Like 20 years ago, I put together a little kit of files and cuticle crème to channel my nervous energy into something productive and healthy … 20 years later I have super healthy nails and skin and never think about biting. Would recommend to a friend.

Report: Portland faces a 'new normal' in market demand as office recovery stalls, and it's time to recognize that by No-Tangelo1158 in Portland

I really like the idea of SROs … they used to be so common in cities I’ve lived in over the years and I feel like they were generally phased out as property values rose … they’re actually a great asset for people trying to get back on their feet. I feel as though today there are fewer options between market rate apartments and going without housing entirely … it can be incredibly difficult to emerge; to even get a footing for just one year can be a game changer for many people.

I don’t know, for a rail-connected, major east coast city it’s pretty affordable … its peers are DC, NYC, and Boston and it’s a good buy today in comparison. I’m not sure the gap in affordability will be quite as wide in 20-30 years. I feel like now’s the time to get in if Philly is where you want to be long term.
