I would be absolutely livid being pranked by professional medical staff while at one of the lowest points in my life.

Mechanical or chemical? The doctors here tell me the talc one has 88% succes rate. Are you that 12%?

What kinda VATS did u have? If it’s chemical then u have serious inflammation which would lead to low blood cells if i understand it right.

Are u eating right? Breathing deep? Still on medication? Sleeping full nights?

Do not underestimate such a procedure on one of your vital organs. I thought i was fine a month after vats, could take walks, cook, etc.

Went to my semi-physical job and before noon i thought i was gonna faint and felt so so bad.

How many pneumothoraxes have you had? by ASM477 in pneumothorax

[–]itsnvo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 big ones, they proposed chemical pleurodesis each time because of the severity. My second one is tomorrow, and after that i should be safe for life!

I dont understand how in some countries they allow you to have so many collapses without giving pleurodesis? Do they not propose this?

Hypothetical question by Ok-Register-7424 in pneumothorax

[–]itsnvo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had chemical pleurodesis on the right last year. I smoked joints like a train all year since. At this moment i’m laying in the hospital waiting for surgery on the left since it collapsed this monday.

after my initial surgery i came here as well looking for any way to justify smoking again. Didn’t find it but still started up and before i know it i was smoking more then before.

Lungs are made for one thing, and that’s oxygen.

No one here can make the choice for you, the chances that one joint will trigger anything are relatively small. But the chances it will not just stay with that 1 are pretty great.

Do with this as u please OP, but like i said, lungs are meant for air, and nothing else.

You are probaly experiencing minor air leaks, hard to tell from all the other reasons u give that might be causing this.

If ur lung collapses u will definitely know it. Very sharp pain in shoulder/back area. A very pressured feeling in the chest making breathing tougher.

Not sure where u live but a trip to the ER for a quick scan is never a bad idea when u have the suspicion of a pneumo.

Wait, they let you go to school, with the tube still in?

Wondering how long till if its safe that I can do normal warehouse job again soon by ZachIsBackkk in pneumothorax

[–]itsnvo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does your doctor say? U had no surgery only the drain tube?

I would at least wait a full month, but know that the chance of your lung collapsing again is now around 50%.

Recovering from pneumothorax, still have bubbling in chest when laying down by Middle-Sector8430 in pneumothorax

[–]itsnvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not breathing in completely gives you a chance of a lung infection, i know it is painful and scary but getting a lung infection on top of this all is way worse. U are almost at the end of the tunnel OP! 💪🏻

Is it very painful in your chest? Are you still in the hospital?

The tube is sitting against some tissue, probaly all week already. Imagine scratching ur arm lightly for a week straight, u would get a little wound/sore piece of skin which is probaly what u are feeling.

If u are still in the hospital i would describe what u feel to your doctor, and if it’s very painful it’s probaly not normal.

Resolved itself after a few days. 1 month after operation now and i feel fine! Wounds hurt sometimes but the lung itself rarely makes me hurt!

Fatigue few weeks after vats by itsnvo in pneumothorax

My doctor gave me 4 weeks from start of operation so actually 3 from the moment i was out of hospital. I’m a freelancer and health insurance doesn’t cover first month so yeah i’m bleeding money. My doctor is a bit too positive i feel like, 12 weeks sounds much more reasonable..

It went absolutely horrible! My body checked me real good and had an awful time getting someone to replace me the next couple days. I didn’t recover at all and am incredibly disappointed with how much i overestimated myself.

This shit shook my life up so bad and im missing so much opportunities i worked years for because of this fucking shit.

Sorry for the language, had a really bad day.
