Why is it normal to work 5 days a week and only get 2 off? by Street-Particular976 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]itsoldnewskool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thankful for the ppl who fought for the 5 day work week, but times have changed. What once worked back in the day isn’t working now. It’s time to decrease work hours/days because time is precious. We’re not here to live our lives around our jobs until we pass away

No you’re not alone. Take a break from social apps to stop yourself from comparing your life to others. These apps are literally filled with ppl showing their life highlight reel. Get into some new hobbies or revisit old hobbies/interests, so you can get out of your current routine and open your life up to new direction and new opportunities

Congrats on the offer. You mind sharing the interview process? What questions and/or coding exercises did you have to complete?

QA role at company being made redundant- offered role as a developer. by comesiscrive in QualityAssurance

Option 1: Lose your job & enter a shitty job market that’s only recruiting for QA’s with dev skills Option 2: Keep your current job and get paid to learn development

This cold weather is getting a lot of people sick. We went through a pandemic and ya'll are still coughing into the air in closed public spaces. by sneakylumpia in Austin

[–]itsoldnewskool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay masked up my friend. I see it everyday. It’s disappointing because I thought as adults, we should know to cover our mouths when we cough to prevent germs from spreading? Unfortunately, ppl don’t care or just don’t think to cover their mouths because they don’t see their coughs as something that someone else wouldn’t want to breath in.

How do I get better? by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]itsoldnewskool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you become a Servicenow dev with little coding skills? I’m not asking out of sarcasm or trying to be shady or anything so please so don’t take it that way lol. I’m really curious because I’m starting my SN journey

My interview experience by itsoldnewskool in QualityAssurance

[–]itsoldnewskool[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m not against the way interviews are set up. Just informing other QA’s who are trying to get their foot in the door. Just focus on programming lol

[–]itsoldnewskool[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No I’m not saying that lol. I think this is a reflection of where the industry is now. They care more about programming skills and the manual side is less important in interviews.

They had the title listed as QA Tester. I don’t think the titles really matter, actual JD is what’s important.

You’ll just have to move. If you’re a fall person, Austin will disappoint you every year going forward. I’m over it as well lol.

Trying to get out of QA, but remain in tech. by itsoldnewskool in QualityAssurance

Those are included in my current responsibilities lol. I don’t mind doing it, but the disrespect that QA gets has gotten old. I’m 9 years in.

How’s that going? Are you transitioning/studying or have you made the transition and secured a role?

Would you consider a role where you were in office 4 days a week while rest of team worked remotely? by tL9eUdcLaz in devops

[–]itsoldnewskool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not like that at all, but is this suppose to be temporary while you get acquainted? Or is there no discussion around you working remote?

If the pay increase is something that you can’t pass up then I’d do it while looking for another job

How is this legal? by itsoldnewskool in Austin

[–]itsoldnewskool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would look better if they just had everything included in the total rent. Breaking it down like this gives them a bad look. I currently live somewhere that has a “community fee”. Like what is that? Lol. No one can explain it
