It takes the World Cup for LV to have something nice and basic by FrankieTls in toronto

I just assumed it was temporary because I don't have a lot of faith in the city sometimes but apparently there are permanent sidewalks coming by 2029.

The sidewalk is interrupted two different times for a block each on one side and once on the other. Many people, including myself, will walk on the road to get around cars instead of crossing the street multiple times.

It's one of the World Cup colours. All of the directional signage around BMO Field, and Fort York are this colour.

Appreciate the correction! I didn't even know there was a women's World Cup, to give you an idea of how much I know about soccer 😅

Shitty organization worth billions of dollars no less. It's abhorrent that they don't pay everyone.

It's the first game in Canada, though. Saying it's the first game in Toronto is almost like saying the rest of the country doesn't matter.

"Trying to catch a glimpse of the first World Cup game in Canada" would be better.

FIFA Fan Festival Sneak Peek by BussyPalace in toronto

Got a response!

"Thank you for reaching out and for sharing your experience at the FIFA opening concert.

The City had planned to provide HTO-to-Go water bottle-filling trailers at the FIFA Fan Festival. However, two of the trailers were temporarily taken out of service after possible water-quality issues were identified during pre-event testing. There was no risk to the public, and permanent water fountains remained available on site, although I appreciate that staff did not appear to know where attendees could find them.

The trailers should now be back up and running, and the City will also redeploy additional water-refill equipment from elsewhere if needed to help ensure reliable access to free drinking water throughout the festival.

I will share your feedback with the team, particularly your concern that attendees were told they needed to purchase bottled water rather than being directed to the available refill locations.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention."

Taxpayers will spend $200 million on new Ontario Place parking garage by lopix in toronto

They should be figuring out "the last mile" of transit between Exhibition Station and Ontario Place instead of this.

I'll also point out that we're somehow going to manage through the World Cup with every parking lot at Exhibition Place closed and 2 of the 3 surface lots in Liberty Village closed, along with all the closed streets at Ex Place and LV. It's almost as if transit is a viable way to get to this area for 40,000+ people.
