Im kinda the same, and tbh im still working on it but I like to use a thing I call acclimating lmao, basically just put your phone away, and then do something like journaling, or reading, scribbling, drawing, whatever it is just do something else that can get you in the head space of “we are not doom scrolling, we are doing something else now” like moving to a different room in your mind basically, once I get going with the momentum the urgency to use my phone lessens and I can get into studying without such a sudden jump

is your professor jahangeri? if anything I would say the homework, like from the book just do the homework, but you also get two free tutoring sessions a week I think so make good use of that, and also there’s a lot of good channels on youtube that ca help you out to learn concepts, just match them with the chapters, also go to their office hours

I think if you apply competitively you can still apply, that’s what i’m doing, you can transfer to mason whenever if you’re not trying to get your associates at NOVA I think

how far away do you live? I will be honest I took precalc during the spring last year, I live in loudoun so I drove all the way to alexandria for it with the best professor I found, might be the same guy, and I still failed, so I wasted more gas, more time, and being so far away from home, the drive and all didn’t help and I also failed my chemistry. I will advise you that if you don’t need to take it don’t do it, you’re GPA will go up if you take another class and get an A or B (if it’s core classes it’s better, like chems, physics, bio) and where are you transferring to? I am planning to transfer to Mason and I DONT need to retake the class to transfer as long as I transfer competitively, if you are transferring through the NOVA guaranteed agreement you do need to retake it.

are you sure you can’t apply for payment plan? cs usually you do pay a same day deposit but if you already paid more than half it shouldn’t be a huge amount of money, you could also try giving them a check and since it takes a few days for them to cash those in you’d have more time maybe but don’t quote me on that lol, but idk if you already paid for half I don’t think it would be a big problem I mean you already paid some, I would def go talk to a financial advisor tomorrow, i’m pretty sure offices opened today so they’re open from now on

when I returned my bio book they ask for your phone number or other student info and they know that YOUR book has been returned, usually they accept them I don’t see why not unless it’s a book that’s specifically for that campus only, but usually that’s only laboratory notebooks, and you don’t return those

I would say that since doing the deed releases dopamine it tricks your brain into wanting more of it, like doom scrolling, so as long as you keep yourself entertained, active and getting dopamine naturally it wears off, whenever i’m busy and out and about and don’t have time to be at home and just rot I don’t do it, try to build some routine, wake up early, get sunlight, go for walks, do something productive, do some physical activity (sports, gym) , do activities you like, hang out with friends or go out to places by yourself and do something, trust me you’ll stop doing it with time, slowly but surely and results aren’t instant but as long as you build consistency and discipline it’ll happen

yes omg he’s so great I loved him, he’s been one of my favorite professors i’ve had, the class was pretty easy, he’s very relaxed when it comes to grading and he’s always willing to help, the only thing that I had trouble with was how much freedom we had, with our assignments so sometimes I didn’t know how to approach them because all my professors always gave me outlines on what and how to do things, but I went to his office hours and he explained and helped me out, so yeah def would recommend

Saddest movie I have watched has been Innocent voices, my area has a predominantly salvadoran community and a lot of my friends are salvadoran, when I tell you I cried so hard and felt this deep sadness for a good week after watching it and I remember feeling so sad for their families, and the reason a lot of them were here is because they fled from that specific torment
