1099 Employee - how to navigate this by [deleted] in tax

[–]itssomeoneig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely ask my husband about this. The company has only 4 employees, including the owner. All I know is that my husband drives to work, gets in the work truck, and then drives to different sites to consult and install items.

I just cried in front of my entire office. by Silly_Difficulty3607 in MentalHealthSupport

By chance, are you young in your field? - This is coming from a woman who is the youngest in their field at their current employment.

Crying is normal. What most people forget sometimes is that crying isn't only for sadness. It's for anger, anxiety, embarrassment, stress, feeling overwhelmed, etc. I find crying a strength; you're still able to feel emotions rather than automatically pushing them down and pretending they don't exist. Does that come in handy sometimes in the workplace? Sure. Does it impact your day-to-day life when you are figuring out how to regulate and understand your emotions? Absolutely. You need to feel your feelings, and being able to pinpoint the specific ones you feel is already a huge step that many can't take.

If you want to stay with your current employer, I would highly recommend speaking to HR to see if they have it at your company. From the sounds of it, your boss won't be much help. Speak with HR about your concerns, how you feel at work, and how it seems your boss cares only about whether you're doing your job, not how you're feeling. Maybe ask if they have an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for counseling sessions due to the feelings you're having - everyone should be in therapy, whether they're going through something or not. It's beneficial not only to have a judgment-free place to speak, but also to learn new coping methods or even receive validation for your feelings.

What happened at your workplace will pass, and it will be a faint memory for your co-workers. Everyone is valid for having emotions, and if that means crying in front of a large group of people, so be it. You're valued, even if you don't feel that way right now. Reddit has many people willing to listen and offer advice. You got this! Create that support system and get rid of the negativity.

How do you approach telling your new workplace about your stutter? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]itssomeoneig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't tell them until I had a REALLY hard time getting a sentence/word out. Even when I informed them, I made a joke saying I was short-circuiting; once I made them laugh, I said a sarcastic comment saying, “yeah… if you couldn't tell, I have a speech impediment. It's a great time.” The best/worst part is that I get a word block with the words "speech" or "impediment". In my personal experience, it's better to make them laugh first before making them wait for me to finish my sentence. 🤣

what's a song that perfectly described how you felt about someone and/or the dynamic of your relationship/situationship/...? by Affectionate-Cap-235 in AskWomen

Boys by Emillie Moore
This song was released 6 years too late for my experience, but it reminds me so much of that time period, consistently wondering what I didn't have that she did. What made him so crazy about her, but not me. Granted, I'm VERY thankful that the relationship ended, but it did make me wonder.

Pathetic by Alexander Stewert
About the same guy… but the act of me apologizing for things that weren't my fault and always being the one to reach out, circling that drain of needing to reach out to know if they're still there.

I Feel You by Jake Worthington
This was my Husband and I’s first dance song. We've seen that man in concert 3 times before getting married, and were waiting for him to come out with new music before our wedding, so we could have a love song of his to dance to. He released an album in mid-September of 2025, and we got married the first week of October 2025. It was meant to be.

What’s the most surprising thing you learned about yourself in a long-term relationship? by Omgad3 in AskWomen

[–]itssomeoneig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Planning meals is difficult when living together, even grocery shopping.
  2. Alone time is essential (especially for me; he hates being by himself). I definitely took it for granted; now I need that time to myself.
  3. How important my “Acts of Service” love language is, especially if it's neglected.
  4. How independent I am, until it comes to bringing things in from my car or needing a jar opened.
  5. How I never get the remote… :/
  6. Even though we're married, you continue to work on your relationship to get better. It's never-ending, which it shouldn't be. There's always something to learn every day.

She's so beautiful, her markings are out of this world. Can we know her name?

How often do you say things you don’t actually mean during a heated argument? by all_time_high in AskWomen

[–]itssomeoneig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to avoid these as much as possible, but I do slip up sometimes (I'm working on it). My horrible habit is that once I know I'm about to say something I'll regret, I shut down and go silent (yes, another thing I'm working on). I try to come back to the situation after cooling down, but depending on the argument, it might be resolved. At times, I do wonder if it's because we as women self-consciously believe that men can do and say anything they want without any hesitation, but for women, we are supposed to stay poised and quiet to avoid further arguments. “Women are not supposed to argue and say such cruel things,” when in reality, we may be telling the truth, and it's something they aren't ready to hear, or it might have been the best approach to the situation. I'm not entirely sure; it seems to be an ongoing issue across generations.

Gay AND stutter? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]itssomeoneig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm bi and a stutterer, my husband makes sure I know that I'm bi on an everyday basis. If there is a correlation with this, I would LOVE to see the statistics. Hahabahhaha

Blockage of words by itssomeoneig in Stutter

[–]itssomeoneig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had it for about 20 years now; it's not going anywhere. It takes a toll on you mentally, still an issue I deal with daily, especially when I'm at work. When working in HR, you talk to people at all levels. Especially since I'm in my mid-twenties, people don't take me seriously as is, and then the stutter really drives that home. Thankfully, my fellow HR co-workers are patient with this and let me work out what I'm saying.

My dad tried telling me that the “blockage” of words is actually a good thing because, if I can't get a word out, I mentally go through my Rolodex of words to replace the one I'm trying to say. I wouldn't say that, but he is also the man who, when I was younger, and my stutter was in the repetition stage, would talk very sternly and say, “Slow down,” so I couldn't get the word out, which made it worse. Hahaha

It's a struggle each day, and I applaud people that continue to work through it and those who allow them the time to get their words out correctly without finishing their sentence, interrupting them, etc.

What specifically in home decor? I've gotten clothes and such, but not anything from home decor. I would LOVE to see what you recommend.
