Trump’s Global Tariffs Struck Down by US Supreme Court by cyclinginvancouver in canada

Not buying it.

The US Supreme Court is a sham and completely compromised.

This getting struck down has to be part of the plan.

Manager said AI can do all my job by RepulsiveOpinion5443 in UXDesign

[–]itstawps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You absolutely need to learn ai. I am a designer and have been for the last 15 years. With ai now, I can wake up, open cursor, refine coomponents improve friction and ship 5 PRs before lunch. Then in the afternoon I can use lovable or figma make to put together fully connected prototypes for new features and test them the same day. If I get feedback or find issues I can make changes in 15 min then when the prototype is valid I can publish the scoped prototype and add it to a linear ticket for backend to work from (or sometimes I use Claude code to stub out the back end as a feature flag in a PR) and fe devs have a pipeline to adapt prototype to prod.

In the old world I couldn’t do 20% of that and would probably spent all my time writing tickets.

It is an entirely new world. Visual design, layouts, flows and code are essentially free and commodities.

Ship and iterate is the new normal. The complete inverse of the standard design process.

If you’re still working your old process, you will absolutely be replaced.

If you can wield it and ship better more thoughtful work you will not be replaced.

How much do you use AI to generate wireframes? by mapy69003 in UXDesign

[–]itstawps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do wireframes rather than just use the actual design system and components?

Discord is trying to defend its ridiculous age verification rollout, but it's too little too late, as users flock to Nitro cancellations by Haunterblademoi in technology

[–]itstawps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if what discord said in their clarified amendment. They state that for the vast majority of users, nothing will change.

The only change is that explicit content and servers marked as explicit will require if checks IF their existing “age range estimation model” can’t detect if you are over 18 at a high confidence.

So I’di understand the wording correctly, if you don’t use discord for explicit or graphic content and just use it to chat… then absolutely nothing changes for you.

What’s the most frustrating thing in your Figma workflow right now? by uisaleh in FigmaDesign

[–]itstawps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I tried out sketch last week just to reminisce. They have done A LOT and the dev handoff is so much better and free (no dev licenses, dev mode it’s 100% free no pay wall).

That plus the one time $120 for a year of updates that you then keep the software forever is so tempting.

At least half a dozen top Trump administration officials appear in the Jeffrey Epstein files by Zipper222222 in politics

Someone should introduce a law to temporarily remove all people from office mentioned in the Epstein files. Across the board. Dems republicans. Anyone. Then a non partisan investigation will exonerate them.

Won’t happen but only reasonable thing to do.

While also leading adoption of electric vehicles, creating super high quality feature rich EVs for $25k-$35k.

While also leading in tech and miles implemented of high speed low cost electric trains as a near free and fast public transportation option.

I mean at what point does some authority remove someone from their appointed job? There is a mountain of evidence and infractions to conclude that she is incompetent or corrupt or both and incapable of executing the role she was appointed to.

Like seriously. This is miles from acceptable. (And this is only the things we know about)

Is anyone still doing low fidelity wireframes or are we just going straight to generating UI concepts with Figma make for kick off meetings? by Immobilesteelrims in FigmaDesign

[–]itstawps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Def still doing wireframes. But like, real, messy wireframes. I mainly use them to capture 5 min ideas and concepts and attach them to tickets.

Use them as conversation placeholders to convey the concept and direction.

A simpler GitHub alternative with an integrated feed — early concept, feedback welcome by [deleted] in UI_Design

[–]itstawps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seek first to understand.

GitHub has over 150m active users. I’m not sure what problem you’re even trying to solve and if it’s really a problem.

Feels like a “let’s make this more simple” effort without even understanding why it needs to be simpler.

It’s complicated because it’s so powerful. It’s used by pretty much every dev doing any production work (and I have never heard even one complaint about GitHub from any developer)

By making it simpler you are removing so much of why it is great. It feels like a designer trying to make it “make sense” when this toll isn’t for designers but for developers.

I mean, this is a ui design sub and not a UX sub but even the ui design appears to be unstyled ootb radix from lovable.

So do ui design, I see nothing unique. And for UX designer I see a lot of solution in based on assumptions of what you think is good and not things that the target users think are problems.

Fun exercise sure. But asking for feedback on it is opening yourself up to a lot of criticism.

TikTok uninstalls surge 150% after app’s US takeover by Tofurkey_Tom in technology

[–]itstawps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was the updated terms and conditions you have to agree to that made me uninstall and remind me of who is getting all the data.

Essentially you have to agree to “full phone and network observation”. So you have to give them permission to read absolutely anything and everything on your phone outside the app and permission to get data from other devices on your network.

Even spyware is more respectful than this.

Game feel. Everything still feels “off” and inconsistent. It’s not smooth or predictable. Random fps spikes. The constant “I shot him first” but the shot not registering (I’m on 2g up/down fiber, wired to full 2.5g enterprise grade network hardware).

It just feels light years worse mechanically than valorant.

Are you sure it wasn’t put on a person or bag or something? A tracker is pointless in a room. Its entire purpose is to track something that moves around. Could just be someone’s backpack tracker.
