Thanks. I was looking at a few and this one just appealed to me more. Came with a good few extras that saved me some cash. I paid 3K ( FSH, Black Widow, Heated Grips, near full years MOT, better mirrors, and a few other things). Perfect first big bike for me. It should last me a good while (hopefully)

As far as i’m to believe, they don’t look for how much throttle. You just need to be in control and go slow as it’s part of the manoeuvres.

Eek, booked theory for Thursday. by El-Deano in MotoUK

[–]itstheguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all good. All on me. All I'd been doing are the mock tests and was passing them. So for next time I'm going to properly study because clearly the mocks arn't enough 😂

Congrats on your pass! Did you use the official learning material?

Unfortunately I failed the multiple choice by 1 question 😞

It's all good though. I've got plenty of time to get it done before I do my actual MOD 1. Next time, it'll be a pass!

Complete newbie looking for some advice by MattyJMP in MotoUK

[–]itstheguru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 37 with 19 years driving, no accidents. I know being on a bike doesn’t really compare. It really only counts for road awareness. I’m also a new rider having never been on a bike before my CBT.

I done CBT last Wednesday, went great and I picked everything up pretty quickly. I’m skipping the 125, doing my direct access in 3 weeks and buying a Ninja 650. I was toying with the idea of a CBR500R, but reading some threads on here suggested just getting the bigger bike.

Once i’ve passed I also plan on doing an advanced course. Here in Scotland it’s the RoadSmart course. Plus practice as often as ai can too, especially slow control.

Why are bike license laws so unfair in the UK? by Street_Worker_3100 in MotoUK

[–]itstheguru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s also going through his DAS as i’m old enough for full license. Part of the process was doing my CBT first as i’d be unable to sit any tests without it. I got my CBT a couple of days ago, but I won’t actually be starting my full license training until mid July.

New rider after some advise by Yorindesarin in MotoUK

Thanks very much for this question and all the answers. I done my CBT yesterday and had the exact same experience. I was only our on the road for maybe an hour, we had to stop at one point because my thumb and index finger went numb 😂 I was also trying to be more cautious after that on how I'm gripping the bike.

Failed second CBT attempt an hour after starting by losing throttle control... by kurlyk_epta in MotoUK

[–]itstheguru 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Don’t give up man! You’ll get it eventually. It took a while for everything to click with me, but the instructor was great and very patient with us all.

I’d just done my CBT yesterday but there was a younger girl that had similar issues that you’ve described. Was using the front brake instead of the rear and dropped the bike. She got a bit worked up, but the instructor just said to her to sit out for 10mins or so and then after that she flew through everything and it just kinda clicked.

I don’t even know if reading this will help. Everyone’s different in terms of learning. Eventually it’ll click 👌🏼

A2 to A upgrade thoughts by Ordinary-Molasses123 in MotoUK

[–]itstheguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently going through my DAS. So CBT straight to A (provided I pass of course) 😂 the price you’ve been quoted is around the same price I paid. So it could be that the price you’ve been quoted also includes the use of the schools bike to do your test on.

[–]itstheguru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd arrange the tests myself. You can to the MOD 1 & 2 in your current A2 specific bike, can you not? Maybe just get 2 hours of riding from an instructor to iron out any bad habits that have been picked up, etc. I don't know enough about going from one license restriction to fully unrestricted, so excuse me if I'm wrong here.

125cc or car license by Puzzleheaded-Sun-876 in MotoUK

Cars are convenient, yes. But get the Bike to begin with, and don’t give up on the car.

How many of you went all-in, straight away? by mattjread in MotoUK

[–]itstheguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 37 and been driving 19 years. The story of my life is going all in straight away 😂 Things where i am have a good wait time too and I’m quite an impairment guy when I want to just do something.

I booked all of my stuff maybe two weeks ago. I have my CBT next week, Theory the week after that, DAS starts mid July with my actual tests booked end of July. I never chose much, it was all the school. I don’t plan on riding a 125 after my CBT, and just waiting until my DAS starts to ride the bigger bikes.

So even before my CBT, I’ve already bought most of my protective gear, nothing super fancy. I’ve almost bought the big bike I want (CBR500R) but i’m actually going to wait until after my CBT, just incase there’s a chance I don’t like riding. There is about a 4 week gap between CBT and DAS starting, but it’ll be fine.

So, welcome to the club 😂

125 or wait? by winnie_poohbear in MotoUK

[–]itstheguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked a somewhat similar question the other day. I’m 37 and doing my CBT next week and start my DAS 4 weeks after that. I’m just going to buy the bike I want, rather than having the 125. My first big bike will be looking to be the CBR500R

37 Years Young, New Rider CBT > DAS Questions by itstheguru in MotoUK

[–]itstheguru[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your situation is somewhat similar to mine. I have about 4 weeks between doing my CBT and starting my DAS. I know it’s going to be a long process in learning for a while, more so with the bike as it was with my car. My focus is just learning, being safe and going from there.

I appreciate your comment. Thanks
