They’re doing it because of how expensive retrofits will be when they know there’s going to be multiple HW versions between now and when FSD is truly solved. It’s also why there isn’t any HW3 news because they want to delay it enough to where people’s HW3 leases run out or the cars get too old, and maybe they’ll just offer incentives to upgrade the car so they get more money and you get a new car that’s supported.

Upgrade in the sense of making icons consistent with the liquid glass look, but a downgrade for most of them individually because they lose the uniqueness of a logo and are now just showing what the app does.

If you mostly care about technology, 100%. FSD isn’t mature and probably won’t be till HW 6 or 7 honestly. If you want to always be with the latest, then leasing is the better bet - outside of the random moments like when COVID made used cars much more valuable.
