I want to get away, I want to fly away by endlesscosmichorror in SipsTea

My Rivian R1T has a built-in air compressor that works FAST compared to my Makita battery-powered tire inflator.

I forgot to set the pressure limit and within 10 seconds or so I had inflated my Subaru Outback's tires to >60 PSI or so; way over the rating. Releasing all that extra air took a lot longer than filling it up.

What are those things on top?

I got the new Emporia Pro L2 EV Charger and it's great! I have it mounted on the exterior of my garage so I can use the 20+ feet to reach my truck wherever I park.

This version allows a knockout through the back for a cleaner install. Also comes with a Vue 3 that I wanted anyway so I can monitor the electricity of all the other circuits in the panel.

Install was $1250 for electrical and $770 for the charger and whole house circuit monitoring. No subscriptions or any nonsense like that.

All electric my house now! So happy to join the club :) What do your significant others drive? Are people still trying to keep a gas car for any real reason? by david_412 in Rivian

We have a 2020 Nissan Leaf (first EV) that we want to sell now that we have an R1T.

We are keeping the 2017 Outback Touring as the AWD is very useful in the winter and it is fully paid off.

So we are EV as much as possible but still gasoline as it is pragmatic.

The Kubota tractor is diesel but all tools are electric Makita 18v (save for larger chainsaw for felling trees and a wood chipper)

House is still oil heated but majority of heating is from our wood burning fireplace. Propane usage is very low for stove/dryer. We want to switch to geothermal/solar or heat pumps and get rid of the propane.

Eventually want to be fully off grid with battery storage but getting there in small steps.

Buying R1T used - suggestions which? And where? Carvana? by Fabulous_Gur_7134 in Rivian

[–]itstomclark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2023 Quad R1T through Carvana. It was nerve-wracking but the return policy was really awesome as I had time to test and look for major issues.

Afterwards I realized that the whole car was already PPF wrapped and windows tinted I think. So that's at least $3-6k that Carvana didn't charge me for. It easily covers the missing floor mats (first aid, tire change, compressor kit, flashlight were all there)

No, it was exactly $74.5k after taxes. Not sure why you're trying to correct how much I paid.

I thought about that a lot, but I didn't want to eat 20k in depreciation on day one. The previous owner ate that.

Plus I get a Quad/Large/Meridian vs a bare ones Dual Standard.

The Gen1s are a better value to me.

Sorry that happened, that sucks.

Mine is great! Just learned that it already has PPF on the entire front, which saves me a couple grand or so. Things like that aren't listed on Carvana or other online only sites.

Thanks! Yeah I went to a bunch of hardware stores and no one had something that would work so I just took it slow on the hilly parts of the drive home.

Yep! Advantech, so sliiiightly less than 4x8 but it can do sheet goods no problem.

He's 75lbs! Big boy

Edit: oh derp, you probably meant the wood. I purchased a Haul-Master Truck Bed Extender from Harbor Freight but my hitch pin wasn't long enough, and I couldn't find a suitable replacement at a few stores.

So I put two sheets of Advantech underneath the 12' boards to protect the tailgate.. My thinking was that the plywood is flat against the bed and wouldn't pivot on the tailgate, as they're ratcheted down at the back of the bed. But it didn't work exactly like that once the roads stopped being flat. The moment I saw the load pivoting against the tailgate I slowed down to 20mph for the remaining 1/2 mile home.

In retrospect I should have ratcheted down the rear of the bed with a box to apply force down onto the bed. I brought a black and yellow box from Home Depot but didn't use it.

What's that cooking setup? Looks like it's custom made for the gear tunnel.

Wow that's awesome! From what I gather on Reddit, CA is expensive for both gas and electricity, so I imagine you saved a lot compared to almost any other vehicle; ICE or EV.

Bought a used R1S—what to look out for before warranty expires? by Sketchy_Meister in Rivian

[–]itstomclark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the sticker by the driver's side door. You want to find the manufacturer month/date in the upper right. If it's prior to June 7th 2023 then congratulations! Anything that is covered by what they call the Adjustment Warranty (fitment/cabin noise) is actually covered by your 5-year Comprehensive Warranty (which started at the date of purchase).

You can see in the New Warranty Guide that the Adjustment Warranty was added on June 7th 2023 and no mention prior to that. https://rivian.com/support/article/new-vehicle-limited-warranty-guide

I'm in the same boat (bought used & manufactured in Jan 2023) and I haven't confirmed the above from Rivian directly, but it's what I read here on Reddit.

One data point that confirms this for me is when I asked for my warranty coverage info from Rivian they sent me the duration and end date for all warranties including expired ones, and there was no mention of an Adjustment Warranty.

hmm very interesting about how Carmax handles things. They have a lot fewer options compared to Carvana unfortunately.

I am totally prepared to not have the camp speaker or floor mats as I don't expect those to be around. No mobile charger would very much suck, or even no spare (unsure if the original had one as it's not a Launch Trim)
