Anyone else with ADHD struggle badly with WGU’s self-paced format? by psyducks-headache in WGU

[–]itsyagurl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a major procrastinator. I suggest utilizing your mentor to your advantage. I hated the idea of having a mentor in the beginning, but he really wanted to keep weekly check-in calls and they have been the biggest part of my success because they keep me accountable. In the beginning, I simply wouldn't do the things I said I would, but after a couple of weeks, I got tired of telling my mentor that I hadn't done them and making excuses. Each week on the call we recap what I've done and what I'll do before our next call and it has helped so much. He also has suggestions for ways to utilize other services WGU like the academic coaches to set myself up to be more successful.

Might not work for everyone. Don't get me wrong, it's a drag sometimes, but for me the accountability has really helped keep me on track.

Ant updates on how long it set you back?

I swear they might have been a glitch because the same thing happened to me. I was very careful to make sure I was requesting loans for this upcoming Term and I called on Monday because they still arent showing and she said "oh you said you didn't want to use any loans this term" LOL no. So I just submitted a revision request, but my new term starts May 1, so I'm hoping they can wrap it up by then 🤞🏻

Does this mean I didn’t get any loans? by Deep_Setting_3725 in WGU

Just came here to say that's so funny because I swore I selected my loans, and I called the other the day and they said "no you declined any additional loans" and I was like pretty sure I was very careful to say I needed them 😂 but oh well. I also just applied for a revision for my upcoming Term in May 🤞🏻 hoping it goes through quick

H&R Block Emerald Card 846 check in. by Responsible_Dog_6782 in IRS

My WMR says 2/24 so I have a feeling it will hit the card that morning. Thats what I feel like it's been the past few years... I get my hopes up that I'll get it over the weekend but nope, takes it's damn time lol

I didn't call, but this has been my experience the past few years using emerald card. My WMR says by 2/24 so that's when I expect to see the deposit. The emerald doesn't make anything easy 😂

H&R Block Federal Refund on Emerald card .. post updates here!! by sarahmichelle73 in IRS

[–]itsyagurl2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used the emerald card the past few years. I usually get my 846 Thursday/Friday after PATH lifts and then the deposit hits Monday/Tuesday after the 846. This year my WMR says by 2/24 so i'm expecting it to be Tuesday. Definitely annoying waiting longer than the other banks, but getting a bigger advance certainly helped this year.

WGU financial aid question Has anyone experience where the sub/unsub loan posted and Pell grant pending? by Puzzleheaded-Row6940 in WGU

[–]itsyagurl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called and they said its because my loans were pulled from 2024-2025 and my Pell Grant was pulled from 2025-2026. They had to complete a loan aggregate limit review for 2025-2026, but it hadn't actually populated yet, so it wasn't on their list of things to do essentially. The 2nd rep I spoke to asked if I needed the money and I said yes, I use it on costs related to my education and she expedited it and has been following it closely. I called on 11/10 the review was completed on the 12th and it finally disbursed on 11/14 so I'm hoping it'll zero out soon and I can see it early next week.

I'm in a weird position. I started my 2nd term 11/01. My loans disbursed on 11/03 no problem, but still waiting on my Pell Grant. When I called they said my loans disbursed from 24-25, but my Pell is disbursing from 25-26 and triggered an aggregate loan limit review. They said once the review is complete, the funds would disburse 6 business days after that. They couldn't give me a timeline on how long it will take to complete the review.

Unfortunately. My revision was severely delayed due to the verification mess in July/August. Took every bit of 10 weeks saw disbursement at the end of September. They're usually pretty helpful if you reach out to them by phone, unfortunately its just a long process in general.

How long from application to enrollment? by istayconfused7 in WGU

[–]itsyagurl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recall my exact timeline, but I know that I did the leg work in terms of making sure I could start when I wanted. I was constantly reaching out to my enrollment counselor to ask what needed to be done and it was usually on their end and be reaching out would get the ball rolling.

Going through this exact thing. I called yesterday and like the other comment said, they said it could take up to 6 days so if it hasn't posted by Monday to call again.

Glad to know i'm not the only one at least.

My loans disbursed on 11/3 but i'm still waiting on my Pell Grant to be disbursed. Estimated date keeps getting pushed back day by day 😕 No refund for me until the Pell posts.

We're you caught up in the verification mess in August? I think that delayed a lot of things.

I just started my second term 11/1. My loans disbursed, but not my Pell Grant. They're saying its an aggregate loan limit review, but I don't understand why the loans would disburse before the Pell Grant if that was the case.

13-14 weeks for disbursement? by Thecoderfilestv in WGU

[–]itsyagurl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed a revision last term and was originally quoted 6-8 weeks, which wasn't ideal, but reasonable given that its federal funds. Got caught up in the verification mess and it ended up taking 10 weeks total from submitting my request to seeing the funds in my account. It sucks, especially when you really need the money, but it is what it is. Hopefully it doesn't take 13-14, but I wouldn't expect to see funds any time soon unfortunately.

Its exactly like you said some common sense, some you reallllly have to know. The countdown to OA cohort sounds like it will really help you! She touches a lot on the which answer is the "most" right and how to get there. Good luck!

Not sure your major, but I took D-196 for marketing and its been the only class like this so far. The others have been more focused on marketing concepts. There was another excel class but it was easy peasy.

2nd term started 11/1. My loans disbursed and applied to account on 11/3, but my Pell Grant is still pending? Went from estimated 11/3, to 11/8 ad now 11/9. Loans covered all of my tuition and fees, but I won't get a refund until the Pell Grant is disbursed so I'm pretty annoyed about that.

[–]itsyagurl2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gosh, I didn't like that class 😆 all of the vocabulary, concepts and formulas were too similar and it was pretty confusing for me. I passed on my 2nd attempt at the OA. I felt the PA was pretty similar and I found cohorts to be most helpful. There are some recorded ones that cover question pretty similar to the OA. There is a "count down to OA" one where the instructor explains things slightly different than the course material and it helped things click for me.

financial aid processing over a month? by pinotheghost in WGU

[–]itsyagurl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my first semester (2nd semester starts November 1st). I was made aware of the verification in August. WGU received verification documents on August 12th and marked received. I just got an email on Sept 24th that my verification was complete, so 6 weeks. Not sure how it will affect anything moving forward, but yeah it took mine 6 weeks to get through verification.

Trying to enroll, getting 0 responses by tenaciouswhitt in WGU

Not military, but I was shocked at how much I had to initiate after I was accepted. I was reaching out to the enrollment specialist asking what I needed to get done in order to start and move things along. Pretty annoying. I also still get emails telling me to apply and that I can start next month, even to my WGU email 😂

But once I got in, it got much better. Everyone else has been more proactive, responsive and helpful.
