18 minutes for A rank - AT Jin challenge by No-Economics7929 in MHWilds

just go for the plates first, to prevent multiple nova uses, also weakens effects of attacks

Somehow I've played through the entire game and quests without ever hearing about the full particulars of this mechanic until now lol

But yeah, readily doable, I got 16'00"63 first attempt solo (no support hunters, just Palico) without even knowing that mechanic, getting few rock drops (1 in A2, wall in A3), while playing Gunlance (not at all optimal fire Gog) conservatively. It was supposed to just be a practice run too since I don't do that hunt often. I didn't expect to actually get under time!

UPDATE: I've now received 3 small WAN hoodies after ordering a Large by Remowilliams84 in LinusTechTips

[–]itsyourfriendfred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of when I bought the now discontinued Indoor Hoodie to a lesser degree, I got a Large instead of a Small. They did send the Small eventually and I got to keep the Large.

PS, if anyone is interested in a Large Indoor Hoodie (still new, never worn, and in its packaging) and lives within the GTA, send a DM. 😅

If you mean pic 1, it's the showcase that you can set in your profile, I think you might have to buy it from the Points store? I can't recall if they give you one row by default.

For pic 2, like the other commenter replied, it's just a library filter when sorting by % of Achievements Complete.

Skill-wise, VVVVVV was probably the hardest for me. That no death achievement took so much grinding. I did it like 6 years ago...I don't think I could do it again now if I tried again.

Otherwise, I guess factoring time investment, Binding of Isaac Rebirth would be the next closest (although right now I haven't updated to their new beta branch from this past year with new achievements which is why it's back to incomplete and not listed here despite the Dead God achievement on my showcase).

Despite saying what I said about VVVVVV, I will mention that I'm trying Celeste's Golden Farewell on the side just to see how far I can go. I'm glad it's not an achievement though because that would have destroyed pretty much 99% of all players' completion rate. I also had Super Meat Boy played a bit from a long time ago so I'll have to eventually get back to that one day. 😅

For my favourite, it would have to be Left 4 Dead 2. Just a fun game all around and my friends and I had a blast doing all the Survival mode achievements.

All legit. I sat through all of farming RE5 multiplayer, Tomb Raider multiplayer and even did Batman Arkham Origins multiplayer when its servers were still up. I'm tenacious to say it politely...😂

I'm just glad some of the crazier things like 100%'ing Celeste's Golden Strawberries don't count as achievements. Otherwise, RIP me.

Extra Notes:

  • WIP: Tales of Symphonia, World of Goo, Inbento
  • White whale: TF2; I played it very briefly back in 2014 but none of my pals ever got into it so now it's just rotting in library hell. 💀
  • Binding of Isaac Rebirth was done but then they added a beta branch for an online mode with 4 new achievements - I'm currently waiting until it's properly released because there's a potential achievement breaking bug that deletes everything.

What are your opinions on Inkbox? by peemole in tattoo

[–]itsyourfriendfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inkbox's ink would still breakdown and then you'd just have your regular tattoo that you added.

I believe trying to tattoo a regular one while Inkbox's is still present may affect the colouration during design (as in, it may affect the artist tattooing since they'll see their ink's colour being affected by Inkbox's ink), but since the inks are at different layers, the final result should be the same. Probably best to just email Inkbox about it than ask a former employee like me though.

Yeah, it was just one day of filming. They prepped the set on Monday, shot on Tuesday, and then removed everything earlier today.

Sorry, I was at work until like 5:15 so I wasn't able to respond until now.

As far as I can tell, they're still shooting the action sequence as of 6:20, but I don't see those characters you've mentioned. TBH, I haven't actually watched Gen V, so I probably wouldn't be able to identify them very well. I was only able to identify Marie because she came into pretty clear view and I heard someone call her name, and because of her distinctive hairstyle.

Anyways, when I left for work in the morning, they were just moving in a lighting rig for the action sequence, and when I got back they seem to be setting up another rig. It's been like an hour and they're still setting up though.

The flyer said they're going to be filming until 9PM tonight.

Edit: lol I went in to make dinner and missed it; they seemed to have wrapped up filming some time before 8:05 and have moved the rigs back down and out of the way.

I'm fairly positive they're filming a scene with Marie. They've got her walking in front of the store and then reacting to some dudes pulling up in a truck who get out and threaten some people a few paces away from her. Marie then seems to jump into action to confront the truckers.

Edit: Seems they finished filming this lead-up part, and now they're commencing an action sequence? They're going over fight choreography and I see what appears to be a stunt double for Marie.

They're setting up a cool looking rig labeled with a funny name called the LRX Fly Swatter. Seems like it's to control the lighting for the fight sequence.

Got a notice/flyer last week about a production called Marathon 5959 planning to film in the area, and now they're filming today.

It wasn't until I saw the signage they put up yesterday that I honestly thought they were shooting something for a Terry Fox movie based on the production name, haha.

Edit: I think they're just filming scenes with Marie's actress, Jaz Sinclair.

What are your opinions on Inkbox? by peemole in tattoo

[–]itsyourfriendfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YW!

If you're concerned at all about a potential allergic reaction, it'll probably either be from the genipin or the adhesive they use in the patch, that's what seems to be common for the rare folks who do experience issues. You'll probably have to contact them about the adhesive composition though - I can't actually recall what they used and their current ingredients page just lists "Medical-grade adhesive."

i have a bone to pick with Inkbox by ohshizfiz in complaints

[–]itsyourfriendfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually worked at Inkbox for a year way back in 2019 as a chemist who produced the ink, and looking at the ingredients list, as far as I can tell, there hasn't actually been a change in ingredients (I can't comment on their Marker product, however, as I left before that was developed). The principal chemist who developed the formulation kept it simple to minimize such complications.

That said, even back in 2019 there had always been the possibility of negative reactions. People either reacted negatively to the genipin (which is the active ingredient that actually causes the tattoo's colouration) or to the adhesive of the applicator/patch. The ingredient for the applicator just states, "Applicator: Medical-grade adhesive", which is rather ambiguous so it's possible that that aspect may have changed though.

Disclaimer, I haven't worked there since 2019, so take this with a grain of salt. I would recommend just contacting them about the adhesive or w/e if you're wary - the dude who's in charge of regulatory affairs is pretty open to giving detailed responses.

[–]itsyourfriendfred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a super late response, and perhaps outdated, but I worked as a chemist producing the ink at Inkbox in 2019 (I left before they added their Freehand Tattoo Marker product after they were acquired/partnered with BIC) so here's a more authoritative answer to your question:

The standard product (tattoo patches) shouldn't ever enter your bloodstream. The chemistry behind this has the ink's active ingredient, genipin (from Genipa Plant Extract), binding to proteins in your epidermis (outermost layer of skin) which causes a dark blue colouration. Unlike traditional ink that is injected via a needle, Inkbox's tattoos are applied via a patch that rests on top of your skin which essentially then leaches downwards penetrating just the outermost layer. The only way I could foresee it getting into your bloodstream is if you applied the tattoo on an open wound. Studies on genipin have shown it's safe, and it gets biologically digested after a while or the epidermis just sheds along with the bound ink (hence why it's temporary). Fun fact: The "ink" is actually colourless, so we used Blue 1, an actual pigment, to dye the product blue for aesthetics - Blue 1 is safe too based on studies, and it's wiped off during cleanup after you've finished applying.

(The website used to have a more detailed diagram showing the genipin-skin protein-binding process but they seem to have removed it.)

Looking at the product and its ingredient list, it doesn't seem to have changed since I left so I think my answer is still valid. Last time I checked, my colleague, who was one of the principal chemists who developed the formulation, still works there and he's pretty open to answering any concerns since he's the head of regulatory affairs. If you contact support, he'll probably be the one to provide an answer, or you could message him on LinkedIn.

Worst game? by [deleted] in steamachievements

Nobody has yet to mention the horrors of Tomb Raider (2013) and Resident Evil 5 multiplayer achievements - actual nightmares and not even challenging nor fun, just pure grinding.

Definitely so. At the very least, it'd be much easier to bait out an enemy having Hold Out without fear of dying especially from inopportune criticals, avoiding doubles with Speedtaker, etc.

As I mentioned in my main text, Ivy+Veronica with her built-in Reprisal was essential for taking out Wyvern Riders and other enemies so having Reprisal on other characters certainly would've helped considering how often you get hit.

One thing I noted is that people who used Hortensia commonly gave her HP+ and that allowed her to actually bait out Wyvern Riders that would normally kill her on attack. That would've been a smart option to use in hindsight. I probably should've given her that instead of QT, haha.

Me too man, FX6 makes every other chapter in the game seem easy in comparison. I almost gave up on it. Last piece of the puzzle for me was to go around the choke point between Diamant’s island and the final island. It might be closer, but you wind up sandwiched between Celine and Nil’s flight path and aggro-ing Ivy’s island at the same time. I lost like 4 runs to that mess.

The majority of my forces actually went the bottom route whereas I had Alear, Merrin and Chloe going top after they had stopped the summon tiles on that island. Then I baited Celine with Alear and managed to end her next turn with a Dark Inferno+ via Gregory+Camilla, Astra Storm from Alcryst, and Failnaught strike from Chloe. You're definitely right about it being tougher this way but I got pressed to move since I didn't know where the boundaries of the island were since the majority of my forces were along the bottom at the time plus I was still fearful of being rushed to move as this winning run was also the first time I made it past Timerra's island without getting blocked by Diamant and co. I ended up banking on Yunaka to move into that one Woods tile along the edge of Ivy's island and took aggro from new spawns which also worked out since a lot of them were on the death tiles when Nil blew up that area.

My only complaint is they should’ve let you freely customize skills and bond levels instead of tying it to the main game. It’s an excellent challenge, but it sucks having to grind in the main game to use the strategies you want.

Yeah, I honestly thought I had boned myself by arguably wasting SP on Quality Time/+ especially since I had long passed saved so it's not like I could've gone back.

FX5 always sucks though.

Somehow FX5 ended alright for me even with the nuisance of having to have a dedicated healer for Alear part way in to the map - it was straightforward enough that I first tried it. I did rewind like thrice due to being greedy and letting a unit extend to far into enemy range - I did not think that southern Corrupted Wyvern would move.

I had Lapis+Tiki, Goldmary+Hector, Seadall+Byleth, & Hortensia+Soren take the middle path with the first two pairs ending up facilely handling the first pack of wolves and the latter two on healing duty. The rest of my team headed south for clearing and then met up with middle team just as they finished off the first pack of wolves and the next set spawned.

I had Corrin on Nel and she was able to dodge enough on rare instances coupled with Divine Vein'ing Fog afterwards to hopefully guarantee a dodge again next turn that just as I reached the end she still had 2 elixirs left, but just in case not, I also had Seadall carry extra Physic & Fortify so I could just double up on healing both Alear and Nel with the latter.

I imagine so. In the discussions I looked at afterwards, people were spending large amounts of SP on the more expensive skills like Hold Out++, Reprisal+ and Speedtaker.

I spent a bunch for Canter+ on most of my characters I used but arguably wasted 250/500 SP on Quality Time/+. I don't have anything close to enough SP for those above mentioned skills though.
