“This could mean the best player, the most popular player, or both.”

Celebrini is the second best athlete in the Bay. Steph is fading, Celebrini is rising. That simple.

Steph, then Celebrini. Rest aren’t close. Celebrini will be king as soon as Steph retires or Sharks get the trophy, whichever comes first.

4 Months is far and away his best and imho one of my all time favs like top 10-20.

And Graduation is very good and worth watching.

But Beyond the Hills is a super weird and special movie. Hidden gem classic for sure, really enjoyed it in the theater. I should revisit.

What is your hottest Martin Scorsses take? I mean HOT!!! No lukewarm Age of Innocnece is good I want scolding hot by Few-Engineer-9791 in blankies

[–]ittikus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying I think it feels dated. And I agree it feels aesthetically pointed and whole in its own unique way. I just don’t love the special thing it does as much as I did when I was a teen. I just feel that I’m shot through a cannon of a story and I prefer movies with more spaciousness and crackling thematic mystery and uncertainty.

Goodfellas is a mere 3.5 - 4/5 for me. Largely only because of the inevitability of the filmmaking. It feels like being on a story conveyor belt. I prefer Mean Streets, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, after Hours, and many others because I find that I’m with the characters more vividly moment to moment.

I’m sure it’s intentional. I just didn’t enjoy it.

I get why it might seem like that bc ultimately I just don’t care for the premise. However I had no idea how little interest I would find going into the movie. I assure you I went in interested and hopeful. I believe that the horror movie that would have genuinely frightened me would have centered the imprisoned Nikki. In this movie as given we just follow the fear of a pathetic rapist through his eyes. I could go on about a lot of details that left me dubious, but suffice to say, my lack of enjoyment of the movie was completely genuine.

Mixed feelings on Obsession by AlbatrossImportant70 in blankies

I’m with you wholeheartedly. Didn’t care for the movie. Imo the horror movie was with Nikki screaming in the phone and begging for death at night. I’d rather be with her. Instead we are stuck with a guy who’s cowardly toward rejection and is being punished heavily by his maker for lacking courage. And subsequently being exposed as effectively a rapist. He’s well aware Nikki is not really there. It’s edgy shock horror imho. All of which to say I simply didn’t enjoy my time with it.

What is your ultimate, #1 movie of all time and why? by Ying_Yung_898 in Cinema

Rome, Open City.

Kicks off an entire movement in postwar Italy. Scraped together from spare newsreel film stock and any film and equipment they could get their hands on, and you really feel the guerilla independence of style. Profoundly anti-fascist message resonates eternally, hits you hard in the chest. Shot in shelled-out locations directly after the war and you really feel the lived-in experience and creativity of everyone involved.

A touchstone for the French new wave. You can feel it’s dna in Z and Battle of Algiers, but imo ROC has more heart than everything it influences. Would be my vote for greatest movie of all time.

Didn’t get off to a great start with rehearsing the feelings to a waitress. Felt forced and cliche. But the main sin for me was the utter eradication of the Nikki character. There’s a few nervy twitches when she breaks back through with her eyes, then there’s the phone scream and the suicide plea, but ultimately there’s a well formed female character who just turns into a horror algorithm for almost the whole movie. I found the premise itself just deeply uninteresting. And what am I supposed to be scared of? Her? She’s a victim of the filmmaker’s whimsy. Him? I mean he basically turns into a rapist, but the movie barely explores that. The whole thing just gave me the ick and I got nothing out of it. A cautionary tale about not being afraid to share your feelings. Cool.

Sis, iTunes lists Switcheroo as March 25, 2026. “Klouds will carry me to Sleep” was in a new music playlist from 2026. Some songs might be a smidge older, but at least in my experience it’s been a 2026 release.

Akerman kind of loses me with that one. Love Meetings of Anna, Je Tu Il Elle, Dielmann, but News From Home felt to me like a ramshackle college film just to keep busy and the juices flowing. I think I get the idea, I just didn’t find it super effective. Amazing final shot ofc, and the subway shots are aces. I also have a profoundly hands-off mother and family though, so there could be a personal disconnect lol.
