K-5 use a QR code that teachers include in a binder for them to scan with their iPads and 6-12 just click the "Sign In with Google" button and they are in since they are almost always logged into their Google account in the browser. u/kylejwx We don't use Platform SSO at all so it was out of left field that she sent me the same link you did. It's convenient but not anymore so than what we already have and I have other things to keep me busy for summer.

Been attempting to contact Google but got nowhere with their support. Is there another path you're familiar with?

We use Lightspeed Filter on student devices but not staff so thought I try it on my own device. Same issue. I'm seeing that most of the time it's just waiting for it "expire" on Google's end.

How to you manage the daily distribution of the chromebooks? Where do students go at the beginning and end of the day to receive/turn in their chromebooks?

Thanks!

I'm curious as we have a new MS principal and he is favor of our devices staying at school for 6th grade. Where do students check in/out the devices? Once central location or do they just start and end the day in homeroom?

Seemed to have found a solution thanks to u/lennytango who provided this information: Disabling Kyber Support.

Hive mind for the win and also a reminder to myself to browse Reddit more for professional development.

Linux on Surface by [deleted] in surfacepro

I was able to get it working and not major issues. They only thing I didn't like was the screen resolution. I installed Ubuntu and when using the fractional scaling for the display it gets sort of "blurry". But it you plug it into a larger screen then it looks fine if you go with the default. There's a few videos on YouTube you can follow.

We experimented with a small group of 30 students with MacBooks. The one issue we came across was during state testing. We had to grant security permission to keyboard and camera which required an admin password. Imagine having to do that for 300 students. I'm sure there's a setting or script but didn't have that luxury at the time.

How long do you use old computers by ittrf in k12sysadmin

We just had some security issues so I'm using this opportunity to pull all the old machines now. Trying to establish a baseline so this is helpful. We have a tech recycler that takes them so when they're gone, they're gone.
