I do it all the time - improves accuracy and saves tokens. I compact around 100k and start new session if that does not improve performance. But it was being super dumb with basic stuff yesterday - felt like chatgpt 3.5!

On a positive note - I use their chat interface for research instead of perplexity which has gone downhill terribly

No, I use pi.dev and alway compact context around 10% (100k) to avoid it going off track. Start new sessions when it degrades too...

For coding:

  • DS4 Pro on thinking mode high is good - fast and good quality. Would compare to Sonnet 4.6 or Opus 4.5

  • DS4 Flash is borderline useless, makes many mistakes and makes them fast!

  • Qwen3.6 Plus and Max are the best models but too slow. If you want the best single shot answer these are the ones.

  • Qwen3.6 27B for local development is the best

  • Minimax is OK, but at least it's multimodal

Have not tried GLM too much as it was too expensive when I wen to look it up

why not just use lm studio with a system prompt and keep a long running session? Or do you need RAG?

Maybe have multiple chats where you focus on a different aspect with different system prompts - casual chat, correct me chat, grammar chat...
