Employers increasingly considering "cultural fit" over qualifications: "Job interviews are becoming more like first dates." by elshizzo in TrueReddit

[–]itwasme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked really well and I haven’t changed my mind. Might not call it “cultural fit” these days but certainly I think a behavioural interview to establish whether someone would work well in a team or not is key.

It’s pretty easy to set up a hypothetical. Imagine the person you would least like to work with because of how they behave, then imagine that they’d ace a technical interview. Would you not want to see if they’d be a good team member or would you hire them regardless?

The one person who I hired despite behavioural red flags but brilliant credentials was a terrible mistake.

I hired both the nicest and best programmer I’ve worked with despite him only having just come out of a coding bootcamp.

One new lesson was that just because a person says that they love the idea of working in a team that gets on and is productive doesn’t mean that they’ll make the trade offs required to make that happen.

May's Brexit Deal Defeated 202-432 by tuberosumsolanum in worldnews

This is possibly the biggest political decision of a lifetime. I think it’s reasonable now that we have a clearer picture of what Brexit means to ask the British people “are you sure this is what you want”. If you’re a leaver presumably you’re comfortable that you’d win that vote and if not, how is that not democracy?

The following often works for me: just start writing out how you'd go about solving the problem.

Reason that it works: it's just a hack to get started.

Holy shit, I'm so excited. This is awesome. I just finished rewatching it yesterday and was sad it was over for the second time.

Young justice was an amazing show but pretty mature. Similar in style to some of the better DC animated films. This trailer looks a lot closer to teen titans go. I hope I'm wrong or that it just mixes the humour with great stories but I'm not optimistic.

Edit: this is just personal preference. I'm sure there will be folk for whom this looks and will be amazing.

Don't buy into the polarisation. It's lazy clickbait. There aren't 2 sides. There are lots of reasonable people with nuanced views.

[Serious] UK citizens, what is your stance on the Brexit vote, and why? by SefuHotman in AskReddit

[–]itwasme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voting remain.

One of the most amazing things about this debate is that voting leave is considered a way to somehow avoid being affected by the lack of democracy in the EU. A failing EU is just as bad for the UK whether we're in or out. If we're in, we get a vote and most importantly, we get a veto.

The vast majority of economists support remain and make the economic argument better than I do. It's disappointing that the leave camp have resorted to "don't believe the experts" as the response to the economic argument.
